|My name is Dennis Kowallek and I am a retired software developer. I spent 22 years working for AT&T in Cleveland and Cincinnati … designing and implementing everything from mainframe applications to client-server and web-based systems. I took an early retirement offer in 1998 and then spent seven months working for MedPlus on their ChartMaxx application. I decided to fully retire in 1999.|
Soon after retiring I got bit by the genealogy bug and began using Millennia's Legacy Family Tree for recording my family history. One of the reasons I chose Legacy was because it utilized an MS Access (Jet) database on the back end. This allowed me to program my own reports (and web pages) when necessary. I've been doing this since 2001.
To keep busy, I help people who can't travel to Butler County, Ohio perform their genealogy research. I also maintain several web pages with Butler County cemetery info and plat maps. In 2003 I contributed to the making of an episode of PBS's History Detectives, which first aired in 2004. This episode had a Butler County connection. You can see my name listed (as a researcher) in the credits which aired at the end of the show. In addition, I maintain a DNA database for the LEE surname, which happens to be my wife's surname.
