I'm blessed to be married to the best husband in the world, am the mother of 2 wonderful daughters and grandmother of 8 beautiful grandchildren. I am also a RETIRED Professor of Nursing from a state university.
Genealogy is a hobby that began when I was a child and was allowed to explore the attic of my grandparents home (circa 1866). I found old pictures, store ledgers, Bibles, books, letters, etc., that dated back to the mid 1800's. My grandmother located the family history work by Bertha Sockwell Blackwood and from there, I was hooked! Whenever I get a spare minute (which doesn't happen often enough!) I grab a camera and head to a cemetery or I bury myself in family data on Ancestry.com!
I am happy to make transfers to family members and to very close friends who can add personal stories or information to the memorial . I also try to make all edits requested but i do request your patience. It make take some time for me to do so.

RE: Sockwell family Hi Wanda! Thank you for your kind words about my mom and me. I had no idea she sent a picture of me! If it was the one with my nursing cap on, that must be about 38 years ago, taken for the capping ceremony during my Sophomore year of college. She probably filled you in on our branch up to her grandkids. Since then, 2 of her grandkids have had kids, so she would have 3 great grandkids now. Both of my parents died way too young, as did my oldest brother Marc who passed away in 2011 at the age of 60. My 2 daughters are 24 and 29 years old with no kids yet. :-( They both live in Seattle and are very excited to learn about the family history; way more interested in it than I was at their age. I really am enjoying the process of discovery but have a couple questions for you: what would you say has been the most helpful website or software in your research and going way back, what year was George Lance Sockwell born? If there is a Sockwell family reunion, I know my girls would absolutely love to come. When I told them I had contacted you, they both asked "when can we go for a visit?" If there is one, where would it be? Needless to say, if you or your family are ever in the Seattle area, please do let me know! Please give my regards to your family, Jenny
Sockwell family Hi Wanda! Thank you for sharing your family research with me. I have only just started and this is just amazing! I was able to go back as far as "T. L. Sockwell" from Georgia, I believe, but I have a tendency to get sidetracked with all the siblings. It's very exciting for me to connect with family from the Sockwell branch since there aren't any (that I know of) up here in the Northwest. I never met any of my Grandpa's siblings and Grandpa passed away when I was 6. My brother has some pictures of him when he was a young man in the Marines and as a police chief in Bremerton, WA. I would love to know more about his (our) family. I hope you wouldn't mind helping me fill in the blanks. Feel free to email me any time at email@example.com. I'm still working as a school nurse, looking forward to retirement in another year. Thank you, cousin Jenny
W. Curtis Sockwell Hello Wanda, I have just started doing some research into my family history and your name has come up in a couple different places. W. Curtis Sockwell was my grandfather. When my mom (Patricia Sockwell Johnston) passed away, I found a card with your name and address on it. I remember her mentioning that Grandpa (who was born in Greenville, TX in 1884) had relatives in Alabama and Georgia. I also found your name here on Find a Grave as adding photos and maintaining some Sockwell sites. Could we be related through my Grandpa, possibly by one of his 7 siblings? Please contact me if you think so or if you can assist me in my research. Thank you, Jenny Johnston, Bothell, WA
