Please, please do not apply chalk, flour, or shaving cream to grave stones. Safe Solutions for hard to read tombstones explains what can be done instead. I had no idea that it was so bad until I looked at the Cemetery Preservation section of the Find A Grave Forums. The stones and future historians thank you!

In many cases, I have photographs with higher resolution than the ones that I have uploaded. I cannot promise that the inscriptions will be significantly clearer, but please contact me if you would like to see them! That being said, I have not altered photographs except to rotate and crop them, and/or change the resolution/size.

Cedar Creek Cemetery near Jerusalem, Conway County, Arkansas is very special to me.

Thank you

Would it be ok to use your tombstone picture of Thomas Cox from Yellow Meeting House Cemetery in Monmouth, NJ for my family picture file? I am related and live in Ohio so it would be hard for me to get there to take the picture.

RE: A Question
Not a problem at all! In fact, I get this question rather frequently. Actually, the reason I added the closeup photo for Harry Arendt was that there was a photo request for him, even after you had added the full marker photo. So, I guessed that the person making the request must have wanted a closeup of just his side of the marker. As for the flower, I love to see flowers on everyone's memorial. It just cheers up the whole business, doesn't it? Long story -- short -- I was not acquainted with him. I'm so sorry for your family's loss, even so very long ago. Many blessings to you and yours. CJ

RE: A Question
Here, go to memorial # 24784552, for Julius Adams, click on the edit button, and leave your question there. I'll be happy to answer it right away. CJ

Claudia Parks
A relative looking for more family
Hi, My name is Claudia Parks. Hazel Van Zandt Cox Parks was my grandmother. My father was William Van Zandt Parks. I'd like to discuss family genealogy with you, if you have some time. Please email me. I'd like to tell my kids (who also carry family names) more about our incredible family. My youngest has been doing some research and I find it to be most fascinating.
Hope to hear from you in the not too distant future.

Shirley Hall
Herman Berning
According to the Daughter of the American Revolution cemetery book for St. Anthony Cemetery, Effingham Coutry, Illinois, Herman died 12 August 1872. Other inscription on the stone:
1 mo Alter Van 44 Jahren 5 Monsten 9 Tagen.

Since I found this information I thought you might like to add it to the information already on Find A

RE: More on cleaning
Mine were taken recently (2011). If yours were from 2009 then the Lichen has grown since then.

Harman Vansant
Thanks for the update. I corrected the date of death but am still uncertain about the birthdate. There were so many Harman Vansants in Bucks County at that time that it's difficult to figure out which one he was. It appears that you came a long way to get that picture. If you're related and would like a transfer just let me know.
