Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a geneology researcher and am particularly interested in helping to preserve the records of our past that are found in old cemeteries. Besides, it's a good excuse to get outside and get some fresh air. ;-)

I live in Nacogdoches, Texas, the oldest town in Texas. My family on my mother's side settled here in the 1830's.

All photos I've taken are free for you to use. You may add them to your geneology pages, copy, print, share or line your bird cage with them. You do not have to credit me as the photographer. What I do is a labor of love out of respect for those who have passed. I don't need recognition for that - it is reward enough.

RE: Iminta Thomas Power
Checked my file and I list TX,Nacogdoches,Cemetery Records as the source for an alternate name of Tminta T. Christopher and I obviously misspelled it and an I and T can look very similar on a tombstone.
It is definitely Iminta on the tombstone.

RE: Iminta Thomas Power
Iminta Thomas Power
Hi, Mary.
Based on the explanation you have sent, I will now remove the spelling under the nickname. Thanks for your thorough research. (My late husband was related to the Power line. Thanks. Mary

I had sent in an edit for Iminta Thomas Christopher, who married Thomas Gooden Power. (not Goodwin). You had her as possibly Timitie Thomas. I believe that was a typo made by the person who originally translated the hand written marriage records. Iminta looks a little like Timitie in the original. Her mother was Permelia "Mealy" Coats Christopher. Sometimes Iminta is spelled Imenta. I'm not sure of the true spelling.

I was basing the edit I sent not just on the gravestone, but on the 1900 census records and other ancestry records found through my research. (My mother was related to the Powers). Iminta's mother was Permelia "Mealy" Coats Christopher.

If you have info that shows her nickname was Timitie, could you share it with me? I'd like it for my ancestry file. Thanks so much!

Hi, Mary.
