I double checked and this information was taken from the Headstone Applications for Military Veterans, 1925-1963.
An officer had the information checked and signed off on them. The records have corrections done in red pen. The headstone usually states their last duty station before discharge. I don't know why they did it this way since some vets did important service elsewhere. There may be mistakes that got by Uncle Sam.
