|Genealogy is my hobby and I love it. I am working on family trees for my family, all branches. I appreciate the help of everyone who has helped me with the finding and/or photography of gravestones.|
I think the preservation of our cemeteries is very important. Thank you to all of the volunteers who contribute to this site. I know there are many people who cannot visit their loved ones grave sites and at times, do not even know where they are located.
I cannot volunteer at this time perhaps in the future!

William and Mary "Polly" R. Ally were my GGGGG Grandparents. Their 2 headstones were replaced by the double headstone in April 17, 2001. The 2 original headstones now reside in the Bobbitt Cemetery on FM 1951 in San Augustine County, Texas, as the courtesy of Alvy Prentice Bobbitt, Sr. "Prent". Near the double headstone that you have pictured, are six innocent family members buried in an unmarked mass grave. The result of a "shootout" with the law. One of their sons, Augustus Tentamous Lafamous Bobbitt "Aug" came to Texas in 1848 to stay with his brother Roberick. Aug is my GGGG Grandfather. He married well into Martha Hobdy family on March 27, 1851. Can you tell me anything about the mass unmarked grave?

I don't know, I contacted a friend at another cemetery here in town, and I am trying to find who "oversee's" these kind of issues.
I just feel so badly for the 10 who asked that didn't have plot numbers. I think my husband and I will just "walk it" next weekend early am's. So Sad. Thanks for your info. Lori

You asked for information on Asa Meadows. I believe this cemetery marker was for the Asa Meadows that married Sarah Foscue. Leone Meadows of Hamblin, Texas gave information in 1939 that her grandfather Asa Meadows was buried on top of a hill known as Meadows Hill in Jefferson, Texas. I currently only have his marriage date as 1840, so the dates you have given are most likely not correct if this Asa Meadows is buried on top of Meadows Hill.
