Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started doing research when my Mother's aunt handed me a family tree research project she had done. I expanded it. When I found this web site I was very amazed and pleased. I have found cemetery sites with family in them, have added cemeteries and names, and have met some family members, that I didn't know I had.

Rev Parley Brown
I read your bio of Rev Brown my great great great grand father and I was interested in his involvement with the Underground Railroad. Can you steer me to any references to this connection? Our branch of the family has no information about this and any history written or oral is deeply appreciated. I am descended through Elon Rouse Brown and we have a number of younger people in the family who have become interested in family history. It is fun for all of us to feel a personal connection to events important to history in a broader sense. Thanks for posting the Brown information. Robin

Joseph Smith Axtell
Hi Deb,

Please remove the memorial in my management in Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield PA. for Joseph Smith Axtell He is my husband’s ancestor. We have finally been able to confirm that he died during his move to Warren county, Illinois and is buried with his wife Elizabeth in Roseland cemetery in Warren county, Illinois. Please see Find A Grave #111639893. Photos of both Elizabeth and Joseph’s Axtell's gravestones are in place on the memorial site! I would SO much appreciate your help in clearing up the mystery of his burial. He indeed was very involved with the Presbyterian church in Fairfield but is not buried there.

The will of Joseph S. Axtell was recorded in Mercer county, Pennsylvania Book 3, Page 336 found on FHL film #878967. It was written on 4 March 1851.

It is concerned with the disposal of his property and arranging his affairs in preparation for a move to Illinois. It mentions his wife Eliza; son, Samuel; eldest daughters Mary, Elizabeth, Ruth, and Eunice. Other children not named to be made equal.

Recorded on 23 June 1851, and registered in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, 8 Aug 1851.

Thank you so much for your help and your very hard work at helping to document family burials

He Deb. I am the granddaughter of James E Decker. I was a long time resident of New York. Moved to Florida in 2002. I recently started tracing my family. I wanted to know if there was any way that you could possibly take a photo of James headstone. I would be extremely grateful if you could. I tried to email you directly but was unable to. I appreciate your help.

RE: 24552628 Emily Axtell
And - there is this 1860 Census from Warren, Waushara, WI:

Scot Jemison, age 42
Sarah Jemison, age 28
Stephen Jemison, age 11
Leonard Jemison, age 9
George Jemison, age 3
Adeline Jemison, age 12 *
Emily Jemison, age 9 * **
Caroline Jemison, age 7 *
Henry Jemison, age 5 *

* I believe these are children of John Smith and Sarah Nichols.

** In 1850, Emily's birth year is 1847 and there is a second "un-named female" born in 1849. I'm not sure if they switched Emily and Adeline in 1860 or in 1850?

It might "fit" better if Emily was the older sister, otherwise, Emily married when she was about 13 or 14 years old?

RE: 24552628 Emily Axtell
On FamSearch, I found a transcript of the marriage record for William Axtell and Emily Smith (28 Aug 1864), which shows her parents to be:

John F Smith
Sarah A Smith

Here is the link:

Don't be thrown off by the "Waukesha" location. That is a known "bug" in their database. Some of the Waupaca records were erroneously assigned to Waukesha (I once drove to Waukesha, before I figured it out).

I will double-check the record at the Waupaca courthouse tomorrow.

Please note: William J Axtell died on 4 Sep 1912, not in 1892.

I didn't help when I mis-typed the year in the transcription of his death record (check his memorial bio section).

He got married in 1910, so he couldn't have died in 1892!

I have a pending suggested correction for his date of death.
