Adding all surnames of my familys great grandparents, regardless of possible relation, that include but are not limited to: Bender, Clark, Clarkston, Garrison, Grote, Herman, Kies, McCoy, Nees, Oswald, Remmert, Snyder, Vogelsong, Vreeland, Yoder and Zook. If you need any additional information added to anything I have put onto here do let me know.

The easiest way to now request edits for any of my memorials is to submit an edit through Find A Grave. They are much easier to process than digging through hundreds of emails.

RE: Dewell at Magnolia
HI. He is listed in WPA records as being there, but WPA is not 100% accurate either. I am wondering if he is buried near his second wife. She and several other relatives have similar small stone and I am guessing there could be a larger monument also. His CW pension says he died at Magnolia, so it seems like he would have been buried there.

RE: Clinton DeMoss
...and that fits the other piece I found yesterday: his obituary in the Omaha Bee (10/27/11), which lists his date of death as October 24, 1911, at his home in Omaha. Apparently the person who previously said she had found his obituary was working off the burial data.

So, I've posted an edit for his memorial (having messed up filing it twice before -- sorry if you saw those :-/ ), since this looks solid. Thanks again for all your help!

RE: Clinton DeMoss
Thanks -- this is quite informative! Clinton's date of death in this list matches a potential date I'd just found elsewhere, and is thus an extremely useful piece to the puzzle.

None of the other surnames ring a bell, though -- perhaps there's no significant connection.

RE: Civil War Veterans
Hi. Sorry, I'm so late getting back to you. I was gone for the weekend and did not get email notices from Find A Grave about additions or corrections. We are mostly looking to document burials even if there are no markers found.

I believe that it used to be that anyone could request a military headstone for a veteran, but I believe that the government now only accepts such requests from direct descendents of the veteran. You could check with the VA in the county where the person is buried, to see what their policy is. They would probably need an obit or cemetery records to verify burial. We have found several CW vets who have stones in two different cemeteries--sometimes even different states.

Thanks for all your work on Find a Grave!

Clinton DeMoss
Hi, I'm trying to find more information about my ancestor Clinton DeMoss, and found the memorial you created ( 37066360 ), which I then posted a photo request for.

Just got a response from someone who couldn't find Clinton's marker after two searches.

I know this was several years and probably several thousand memorials ago, but I was wondering if you recall how you got the information you used to create this memorial?

Any help appreciated.

Dewell at Magnolia
HI. Thank you for the photo. I see that it says "Emma, wife of John". Do you know if another side of the stone says John? Apparently he had another wife named Bessie who has a separate gravestone. Linda
