Hi Laura! I'm afraid you've posted the wrong tombstone picture on the memorial for Isaac Derstine (72969346). The picture you've posted appears to be for a son of Jacob Derstine.
My grandfather is Karlis Pagasts.
My grandmother is Lilia Pagasts.

I AM INTA PAGASTA from LATVIA. I am looking for our family tree.

Hi, I listed these from a book of gravestone readings done in the 1980's just to help people find family. Pleaselet me know if there are any corrections. William Bell is between Walter Drube and Catherine Reichert

Thanks for the information about the website. These various spellings have indeed been confusing.
I hope to one day visit the Mennonite Heritage Museum. My husband had many ancestors that came to this country as Mennonites seeking religious freedom.
We did not know about this ancestry until I began working on his ancestry several years ago. That is when I discovered his Ruth, Wismer and Allebach heritage.
Can't wait to hear about your discoveries!

The surname is the problem, it can be spellled: Loux, Laux, or Loucks. In this case it is Laux on the list, and he is listed as Jacob Laux rather than John. I believe the person who listed the memorial assumed that he followed the tradition, where every boy was named Jacob ____ and every girl Maria ____, and then were called by the middle name. Since he is the patriarch of the American branch he must have gone by Jacob. It is very confusing to say the least. Jacob John and Mary are on page 4 of the cemetery list, buried in Sec 2, row 9, lots 7 & 8.
Thanks for searching them out,
Thank you so much! I am doing a research project on Herbert and appreciate all your help. Thank you so much!
