Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing research for the past 30 years in (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada). I have been retired from the (R.C.M.P.) Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 35 years. Enjoy doing research, did 25 years of working on the history of the oldest existing Junior Hockey Team in the World (Regina Pats). Finally having the history published as a book in 2010.

I worked on my family re-search and was able to go back to the 1600's on my Dad's side. Nottingham, England.

I had two serious car accidents, one resulting in a neck problem and four years ago found out I have Post-Polio Syndrome, resulting in fatigue and tiredness. So need to exercise as much as I can. Try getting to Cemetery at lease once a week to take pictures. Love helping others as much as I can in research.

(REGINA CEMETERY): Vandalism Hits Cemetery - 1993 and 2011

Unfortunately, the careless act of vandals who entered the secured Regina Cemetery on May 13, 2011 has left a number of headstones damaged. In some cases damage is only minimal and headstones can be put back in place. Other cases are more substantial. The responsibility for fixing or replacing the headstones is the responsibility of the next of kin or a designate.

At least 70 headstones were damaged, with some simply toppled while others were broken altogether.

(I have the complete list of damaged tombstones)

Due to the damage, some head stones are still on their faces. One shows were a portable saw removed half of the printing.

(REGINA CEMETERY) - EACH BLOCK (Has 2 Rows) - Their are some that have only one row.

ALSO: Have come across a lot (about 50 or more) of tombstones that are unreadable and damaged.

RE: Knutson
Glad to help and make contact with you. A correction needs to be made to the location of the grave. Arvid Knutson is actually in the Westlawn Cranbrook Cemetery. The Catholic Cemetery, Old General Cemetery and the Westlawn Cemetery are all next to one another but separated by a road and fences. The Cranbrook City Engineer Office gave me the location and the directions to find his grave. It is Section U Plot 97 of the Westlawn. Each plot is marked well with cement markers. If you start at the stone entrance of the Westlawn and go about 3/4 of the way back and then go left on the paved path you will find his grave. He is shaded by beautiful big trees and the cemetery is maintained reasonably well. If family tries to visit they might not know which cemetery. I think the original mistake was made in a book put together some years ago and is in the public library now. I will check the book next time I am in town but I did go looking through the Old General before checking with Cranbrook Engineers Office.

James C Siddons
Hello Ron,
My name is David and i would like to thank you for the work you do.It has enabled me to find out quite a bit about my great uncle James Siddons and his family.I knew he emigrated to Canada in 1920 but very little else.I now know he had at least three children one of which is buried with him and I have a photo of the grave. It also gives me a better chance of finding other members of his family now that I have a starting point.
Thank you very much.

RE: Reur: E-Mail this date
Ron, I am so sorry. That was a total mistake and not something I meant to send you. I am not even sure how that happened. I downloaded that document you got about Find a Grave because my local genealogy group asked me to prepare a presentation about how to use it, and someone on a facebook group named Nora Carver kindly wrote the article and is allowing us to use it. I downloaded it and saved it to my documents in my computer, but had no intention of emailing it to anyone.

I did recently send you an edit correction, and am not sure if the document got attached to it, or if you received it separately, or how it could have happened.

I have nothing but admiration for all the hard work you do, and am very grateful for all of the memorials you create, including many of my own family and relations. You have been nothing but helpful and gracious to me, and I am very sorry that you are in poor health.

Please do not consider leaving Find a Grave because of an unintentional error on my part. I am really sorry this happened, and cannot say how sorry I am. If there is anything I can do for you please let me know.

Christian Neimor
Hi Ron, I just approved 2 edits you sent me for Christian Neimor. One was the addition of the plot number. Thank you so much for that info, I greatly appreciate it. Do you know if there is a headstone, and if his wife Pauline is buried next to him? I am wondering about her plot number.
Your second edit was changing the name on his memorial from Neumohr to Neimor. Christian was my great-grandfather, and I do not know at what point the name was changed, so am happy to know which name he is buried with. Thanks so much, and am hoping you will know about the headstone, maybe even a photo? Hope that's not too much to ask.

Grenfell cemetery
hi! Ron

Re: memorial 125482011; Larry MOHR & memorial 125898947; Albert NEULS...Grenfell cemetery
; if these memorials are not a family member could I ask them to be transferred to me please; I volunteered back in 2009 to keep this cemetery current and add new photos and info as it becomes available to me; such as exact burial locations, it is much easier for me to have editing access so I don't have to request changes etc. and then check back to see if they have been done. Thank-you so much for your understanding.
