Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in genealogy began 66 years ago when I listened to my mother and grandmother trace relationships of their friends and family.

As a Find A Grave photo volunteer for Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery, I sometimes stumble over a neglected or forgotten grave marker. I add information or create memorials for the lives I discover in this way.

I've lived in Portland since 1985. Do not presume to lecture me on the city of today or yesterday, the history or current status of Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery.

If you have rules and procedures and requirements for memorials and photos, don't expect me to follow them. As far as cleaning headstones? Don't be silly. I clean off the bird ****, wipe the dust, pull the weeds, rinse the mud. What good is a photo where the name can't be seen or the dates visible?

Use the "edit" tab to request additions, changes, transfers. Do not burden me with the task of searching for the memorial.

Thank you. Long ago in the Stone Age when I began doing genealogy, we learned that a genealogist must be patient. It seems it was more true then, but the advice still is well taken. By the way, if there is no stone, please photograph the plot anyway, and post it. I really do appreciate this - and really, I'm in no hurry.

Sorry, I now see that those numbers do indeed match the plot number. Thanks.

Hello Linda, as you have a lot of knowledge of Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery I am wondering if you can tell me the meaning on this marker. Below his name are the numbers L224 on the left and B85 on the right. At first I thought this was probably his lot number but that is documented on the memorial. Thank you for posting this picture and thank you for any information you can provide.

OMG - I hope there wasn't a lot of damage. I love that cemetery and as you know spent a lot of time there. My friend was there when the tree broke on the mausoleum and verily missed being hit but the cracking sound sent him running.

Thanks Linda for the prompt reply. Sorry, still learning stuff about Find A Grave and I missed the "unmarked" note. Please photograph the daughter's marker and area. Thanks a million!
