|Marie Ann Dubus Garrett||Marie Gates nee Alphonsine Dubus|
Thank you for the obit of Alphonsine. Are you related to the Dubus family?
|Geneva McCown Garrett||Cavender|
Mary, thank you for the transfers. I still do not know what to do about the two Woodrow Cavender men. Are you kin to these folks?
|Geneva McCown Garrett||woodrow Wilson Cavender|
Sir, there is some confusion about the two woodrow Cavenders. One is the son of James Bird and Maud Cobb Cavender
Woodrow Wilson Cavender
in the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007
Record Image No Image
Name: Woodrow Wilson Cavender
[Woodrow W Cavender]
Birth Date: 7 Sep 1914
Birth Place: Sierra Blanca, Texas
Death Date: 5 Feb 1999
Father: James B Cavender
Mother: Maude Cobb
Type of Claim: Original SSN.
Notes: Mar 1937: Name listed as WOODROW WILSON CAVENDER; 19 Feb 1999: Name listed as WOODROW W CAVENDER
and the Woodrow you have listed with parents of Thomas Green Cavender and Lucy. I also have military records that list a date of 1914.Could both the boys be born and die on same days?

Thanks for the explanation. That is odd indeed. I had not seen this before. I've used Find A Grave for a number of years but just recently sign up.
|Andy McBride||RE: McBride suggestion|
I am referring to the listing for Calistia B "Callie" Huffman McBride. She is my great great aunt through Thomas J McBride. I see in the Siblings that she is listed as a sibling of herself.
These are the siblings as they are listed on Find a Grave:
Mary Jane Huffman Roebuck (1849 - 1885)**
Emiline Huffman Burns (1856 - 1933)*
Henry Washington Huffman (1858 - 1934)*
Ashley James Huffman (1859 - 1895)*
Christia Anna Huffman Griffin (1860 - 1925)*
>>>> Calistia B Huffman McBride (1862 - 1941)
Riley Christopher Huffman (1863 - 1950)*
Anna Eliza Huffman Bennett (1866 - 1948)*
Martha A Huffman (1868 - 1874)*
Narry Huffman (1868 - 1874)*
The listing that I marked with >>>> should not be there unless my aunt had a sister with the exact same name and the exact same birth and death dates.
Any chance you work on McBride Genealogy?
Thanks for all you do on Find a Grave.
|Ben Stevens ||MRS AURELIEN SLAUGHTER|
Today (DEC. 29, 2016), I went to Opelousas and visited the St. Landry Cemetery. With your photography aid and a cemetery map from St. Landry
Church, I found my grandmother's grave in FIVE minutes. Took lots of photos and my whole family plans to visit soon. With her death year being 1923, grandma's grave was not visited in 93 years! I seem to be the first to visit it. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. WE ARE INDEED INDEBTED TO YOU! Your work has made impossibilities possible!

|Ben Stevens ||RE: RE:Mrs. Aurelien Slaughter's Grave|
Thank you so much for the pointers and insight. I plan to go real soon and I will take the precautions. My entire family with amazement thanks you.
|Ben Stevens ||"Mrs. Aurelien Slaughter"|
Last week I accidentally came across the grave of "Mrs. Aurelien Slaughter" died Oct 1923. My family was elated because this is my maternal grandmother who died when my mom was only twelve yrs old (are you a relative?) My mom (Marie Hazel Slaughter Stevens) was one of ten kids who NEVER knew that the grave was even marked, so it was not visited in 93 years!
My grandmother's full name was Marcelite Thibodeaux Slaughter who married my grandfather Aurelien Slaughter in Nov. of 1899.
I confirmed her grave with her State death certificate and church funeral records from Holy Ghost and St. Landry Catholic Churches.
This is endeared to her descendants; she never took a photo. Her personal grave is all we have and I plan to visit it real soon. Thanks for the special location mention of her marker being at the head of "Chester P. O'Conner's" grave. You have made this year very special for my family. WE THANK YOU FOR THIS MOST VALUABLE POST!!!!
|Sebastian||Evalture Chastant and Cecile (Landry) Chastant|
Thank you so much for finding their death notices and sending me your transcription. I added both to Cecile's memorial.
Cecile (Landry) Chastant was a sister of my children's paternal great-great grandfather, Henry T. Landry.
