Bio Photo Hello, my name is Karl Stelly. I am 58 years old, and I'm originally from Lafayette, Louisiana. I've lived in Baytown, Texas, Tulare, California, Great Falls, Montana, Killeen, Texas, Manassas, Virginia, and Louisville, Kentucky. I moved to Gettysburg with my fiance about 6 years ago. I enjoy roaming the battlefield and photography, and studying the history of Gettysburg and the Civil War. I have quite a few photographs of Gettysburg and other Civil War battlefields and other historic sites posted on Google Earth. I use the name "Seven Stars" on Panoramio and Google Earth. If you see photos there by "Seven Stars," that's me!

Buried in two cemeteries?
Has a mix-up occurred? Is Orien Simmons #45527614 (which you transferred to me) actually buried in the Jefferson City, Missouri, Jefferson City National Cemetery instead of the Gettysburg Nat'l Cemetery in PA? His wife, Josephine (linked) is placed (created by Tami Glock) in the Gettysburg Nat'l Cemetery in PA, also. It was pointed out to me that Orien W. Simmons is on an official list as being buried in Missouri, with an identical headstone photo. Thanks for helping me out with this question.

1861-2010 about Lieutenant Commander Orien W Simmons:
Name: Lieutenant Commander Orien W Simmons
Birth Date: 10 Feb 1911
Death Date: 10 Jan 2002
Cemetery: Jefferson City National Cemetery
Burial Location: Jefferson City, Missouri, United States
Section: 11

RE: Thanks for the photograph
Karl,

You're more than welcome. Without your photograph my research would have felt incomplete. So far I have located 8 of the 9 crew's graves.

Three of his fellow crew can be found in one grave here;

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=wanner&GSfn=Ivan&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=2847203&df=all&

Two are buried in England and I hope to take photos of the graves soon and upload them to find-a grave when I have.

Kind regards

Andrew

Thanks for the photo of Clair Truby's final resting place. I have left a message on the page as I am researching his death in an aircraft crash in the UK in 1944. Your contribution is appreciated in the telling of their story.

I happened to stumble on this book in a shop in Gettysburg...by accident!! I was looking for something else. It was priced at $24.00. A friend owns the shop and I told her about the amazon.com price. Just goes to show you......

I'll have to find a public copy of the book. It's selling for average $125. used. Thanks though for the suggestion.

Thank you, Karl. I have removed two of the pictures. I don't have a clue why three uploaded, but it should be okay now. Thanks for letting me know.

RE: Virtual cemetery for the 44th New York Infantry Volunteers
Thanks for the book suggestion Karl. I photographed the stones in the cemetery, but not sure I got all of them. Specifically, I was looking to find out if all the LRT casualties from July 2nd were buried on the Jacob Weikert Farm prior to their reburial elsewhere.

RE: Virtual cemetery for the 44th New York Infantry Volunteers
Any info you may have about the 44th NYI Volunteer burials. I see your name on a lot of the ones I have already added.
Also, where did you get the info about certain of the soldiers being buried on the Jacob Weikert Farm?
Thank you
