I think this "Find-a-Grave" website is wonderful, and I hope more people will add data to it. Hopefully my input will help someone out there.|
I so enjoy finding & visiting the old pioneer cemeteries, where the dates go back to the 1700-1800's.
I'll be more than happy to make corrections and/or add data, make relationship links, etc, but I am curtailing (not stopping) transferring memorials due to a growing misunderstanding of what Find-a-grave is all about.
Please DO NOT not leave me a message of "any kind" without leaving a way for me to get back to you. It makes no sense to do so - it is useless and it will be ignored.
Your "e-mail" must be present in your messages to me.
DO NOT ask for transfers without return contact information either.
I only transfer memorials according to Find-a-grave guidelines so check first before asking please.
TRANSFERS: Per Findagrave regulations:
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This DOES NOT include aunts, uncles and cousins.
Please do NOT add personal data in the "Leave Flowers & Note" section -- that is NOT what it is for...... send the data to me & I will be happy to add it in the "Bio Section" where it belongs. Thanks!

Thank you for accepting edits for her memorial. I also thank you for creating almost 70,000 memorials here on Find A Grave. Your work is very much appreciated.

That is a bummer!I will try to dig up something. If I do finally find it, I will send the info to you as well and hopefully pictures too. Thank you for your efforts though and the quick response!
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well!

Thanks for catching the bio discrepancies. Regarding the link to Casie - her marriage record and earlier records all use Agnes or Agnes C. which is probably her given name. All of the records after she was married use either Cassie or Cassandra A. so I would guess that she preferred that. I have sent through an edit requesting that name be changed.
Regarding the birth year, I think we should go with the bio date. I sent through the bio after I had sent through the birth place edit.
Regarding the birth date of the daughter, the bio copy that I have also has the 230 date. I see you have edited out the 230 and I believe that is the best thing to do. My gut says it should be 23, but why confuse someone else.
I also wanted to thank you for all the memorials you have posted. When I saw the total number I couldn't believe that you still caught the errors. You have made a very big impact on people's ability to locate their ancestors and develop family links.

I have a delemma. I am working for Lois Johnson of the Johnson County Gen Web. I am gleaning old obits and death announcements from the pre 1900 papers of Franklin, Johnson County. You added the memorial for Jacob in Acton Cemetery, Marion County, and I presume based on the photo of the headstone put his death date at 1889. However, I have his obit and he died in December of 1898. He had an original stone, and it appears that some family members erected a newer more modern stone some time ago, and it appears that the stone cutter transposed the date 1898 to 1889.Would you feel comfortable changing it to the correct date? The obituary is being typed and prepared and will be forwarded to you to add to the memorial if you would. I have been at this for many months now, and it isn't the first time that I have seen the wrong date or dates carved on the stone. Let me know what you are thinking on this.
Memorial# 20092005. Ruth, it's me again. I ran across another ancestor whose headstone information is wrong on Find A Grave. I contacted to contributor and she agreed (I'm a little sketchy on Find A Grave responsibilities). The death date should be 1849, not 1819. The memorial is a tad hard to read, but if you look closely, you can see the 1849 date.
I aint looking for errors. I just run across a few while researching and I think it's best to get them corrected.

Ruth.....I'm researching the Deskin line, and the grave site for Nelle Deskin (F-A-G #68684675) in Oakland Cemetery was never married, even though the page shows Herchell as her spouse and Harvey as her child. The death certificate shows her parents as Deskin and it is marked "Never Married". The dates on the marker and on the death certificate match, but this can't be Herchell's wife. Her name too was Nellie, but her maiden name was Cline (or Klein).
