Bio and Links
Bio Photo Researching one's genealogy is a bit like a treasure hunt. As you learn more and more about your ancestors, surprises keep occuring. I am thankful to all the people who have taken the time to research the past. I aim to contribute as well. I am working on my Peck ancestry which goes back to Joseph and some of his immigrant sons who arrived in 1638. Other names include Vanderwerker, Van Patten, Shoup/Shoop/Schupp, McNeil, Cramer, Paine, McDougall, Lant, Reid, Campbell, Wagman, Foster, Cushman, Grandy, Bartlett, Haverly, Duesler, Snell, Wendell, Glen, Hawley, Harmon, etc. I get great satisfaction in discovering and entering these historical records, before they are lost for good. Most of my entries are in MA, RI, CT and upstate NY where I live. I am a retired HS biology and chem. teacher. I have completed 10 Earthwatch expeditions and travelled to over 60 countries. Climbing mountains is also appealing having been up Kilimanjaro, Whitney, Olympus, Rysy, Ben Nevis, Algonquin, Marcy and others. Genealogy is another fun and productive way to spend my time.
One of my great joys is to visit villages where my ancestors lived before coming to America. In 2010 I visited Hingham and Beccles, England where the paternal Pecks lived in the 1500 and 1600's. We also visited Petten, Holland for the maternal Van Pattens and Meppel, Holland for the Van Alstynes and Vanderwerkers. In 2012 I visited Scotland for the McNeils and Reids and then the Mozel River Valley in the Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany for the Shoups/Schupps and Mais lines.

I would also like to know if I may use some of your photos from Find A Grave on my tree? Credits to you will be given, of course, as it is important to me to source my info...thank you, again for all your work! Amazing job!! I have the book on the Pecks but now see there is a book on the Fish family, too! Oh boy!!! LOL!

The Peck family
Dave, Just wanted to say hi and thank you for all the work you have done on Find A Grave on this family. I, too, am a direct descendant of Joseph Peck (the emigrant to America from England). He is my 10th gr-grandfather.
I have been doing genealogy for about 20 years and have not done a lot on this family as I have seen there is already lots of info on this family that is pretty easy to find. So...until now, I really haven't looked much at this line. The only info I had on my tree for all these years was of my 5th gr-grandparents, Peter and Sarah Ralph Peck who settled in Richfield Springs (or as the book says, Fly Creek, Otsego Co., NY. Their daughter Susan married Nathaniel Chapman, who are my 4th gr-grands. Their son Lewis is my 3rd gr-gr. and on down.
My cousin (who is a Chapman) and I are diving into this project of the Peck family together.
I think it is AWESOME you have been able to travel to all the places abroad in which members of this family were from! I do the same but so far have only traveled around NY and New England. Nothing compared to your ventures but travelling to these places does give you a different and more clear perspective on things as they were. Even though I see pics of headstones here on Find A Grave, I do like to go see the burial places of our ancestors myself.
We, being descendants of the Pecks are very fortunate a genealogy was done so long ago to preserve all the info from times that may be difficult to research now!!!! I only wish this were true of other family surnames I research!
I still live in the area in which the Pecks who moved from RI to Otsego Co., NY and to German Flatts, NY. There are many, many Pecks buried in these old cemeteries around here. I have lots of pics of these headstones even though I do not know how most are connected at this present time.
I am wondering if you have any pics from England of the various places you visited? Do you have a web site or public family tree? I do not like to copy other genealogies as I like to do it myself but I do compare my notes to other and try to find sources for my info. I would love to look at what you have! So far, everything I have seen you post, I have been able to verify with other sources. Great job you have done!!!!
I do see something, though... I think someone added a child to memorial # 25164327, which I do question.
I do not think Peleg is the son of this Capt. Thomas.??? Or am I confused? Peleg is the son of the other Thomas Peck who was b. 1727 and his 2nd wife, Dorothy...
Anyhow, thank you so much for all your work!!! Nice to come across a new "cousin"!

Elizabeth & David Peck - Kendall Plain Cem. Barre
I went back today and double-checked. While there is a lot of room on either side of Elizabeth's stone, there is no evidence of another stone for David. That doesn't mean he is not there, just that there is no marker that might confirm it. I've take a picture so you can see the area. I will email it to your email address on your profile.

Sarah Raynor at Greenfield
The only Raynor plot near Lot 43 in Section 1 does not have a lot number on it and there is no individual marker for Sarah there so I've posted the photo of that Raynor marker near Lot 43 in Section 1. If you don't want it, let me know and I'll remove it.

Sarah and Charles Child
Sorry, there is no separate stone for Sarah or Charles Child. The plot given in the database corresponds to the big stone from the Beneficient Congregational Church, and there is no other stone for them in the plot. Maybe they were buried together to save money, or maybe the old stones were taken up, I don't know.
