Thank you so much for taking the time to locate and photograph her grave for me! I appreciate it so very much. :)
|Cheri Black||RE: Mary L. Welch|
This Mary L. Welch from the inscription would have been born in 1799. The one I am looking for would have been born in 1820. I have her b.20 Feb 1820 around Dayton PA and d.4 May 1898 in Worth Co. MO. My guess is that the stone belongs to Josiah's mom. The Mary L. I was looking for was about 3 years older(that she admitted to on the censuses) than Josiah and 8 years really. I think the only one of her 4 or 5 husbands that she had children with was my 3 great grandpa Robert C. Black. Some of those kids ended up with her in Worth County. I walked the Isadore Cemetery with Isora Barton in 2006, and we have a number of other relatives buried there. Anyway thanks again for the pic.

Thanks so much for going to the cemetery and taking the picture of the headstone. I had thought the inscription might be worn, but it is very clear. This is what I had written in my notes before getting your photo tonight, "Isadora Cemetery in Worth County MO
the following is a transcription from the Isadora Cemetery:
Note that the date of death and age at death do not coincide with the date on record. It is also in conflict with Mary's being shown alive living with Josiah in Lacon, IL in the 1880 census.
It is completely possible that the stone was illegible since these records were compiled from reading the stones.
Welch J 1906 Jun 29 77y 8m 27d
Welch Mary L 1877 May 17
78y 2m 27d Wfe of J Welch"
So I definitely was wrong about part of that. Now I only have to figure out which parts. :>} Thanks so much, Cheri
