Bio and Links
Bio Photo I retired from the Army of 21 years and I love to study and visit Civil / Revolutionary War Battlefields and visit the generals gravesites who served during those periods. Thanks to Find a Grave I am able to plan my trips accordingly. I also like helping those who cannot visit their family members in person by taking pictures for them in the area in which I live. If at any time someone is in disagreement with the pictures I have posted on a memorial page please let me know and I will remove them. Also if you have more information to post to a memorial I have created, send it to me and I'll add it or I'll transfer the memorial page. Photos taken by me for Find A Grave may be considered public domain and you are most welcome to use them.

Hi, Mike. Thank you so much for your reply and for all that you do for preserving history. It was not necessary for you to transfer my ancestor to my name for maintenance. It was fine remaining with you. However, I appreciate it. Mary Blood

Thomas Jefferson Toms of Thomson, GA, City Cem.
Hi, Mike. I want to thank you so much for placing my great-great-grandfather's grave on I had searched for him since 1972 and finally found his grave online in 2003 the night before a trip to GA to research his family. Ironically, we had reserved a cabin at Elijah Clarke State Park, and Thomson was the town where we turned off I-20 to go to our lodgings. After more than 30 years of looking, we didn't even have to go out of our way to visit his grave. In November 2011, I had the new marker placed on his grave. A cousin helped me pay for it. One of the saddest things about this is that Thomas J. Toms' wife, Sarah, and his two very young sons probably never knew what had happened to him. Sarah claimed in her pension application that he had died of measles in Tennessee in 1861, a full year before he even joined up in Louisiana. Her children were two and four when he left for the war, and she was in her 20s. She remained a widow for the rest of her life.
Thank you again for adding my ancestor and for all that you do for so many of us who want to know about our ancestors.
Sincerely, Mary C. Blood

Memorial #30386789
Hi there. I have a correction to memorial #30386789 for John Wise Clark. He did not serve in the Eufaula Light Artillery as stated in the memorial. He only served as a Captain in the 1st CSA Infantry. There was another John W. Clark (born 1843 and died 1920) who served as a private in the Eufaula Light Artillery. He is a relative of mine and I have a copy of his pension record showing this. There were two John W. Clark men in Barbour County, Alabama serving in the Confederacy. Thanks, Britt Clark

I have knowledge of the whereabouts of an October 19, 1896 hand-written letter by this gentleman on Manufacturers Mutual Fire Insurance, Macon, GA stationary (I assume he represented that company). If you know of any of his descendants who might be interested in acquiring said letter, please let me know.

William S. Porter
Thank you for taking the time to photograph the Headstone of William S. Porter. He was my step grandfather. I did not even know exactly where he had been buried at. This is awesome. I too take photographs here on Hatteras Island, North Carolina and try to clean up cemeteries that are in a disarray. If I can be of any assistance in this area please let me know. We have many military gravestones here. Some are loners that I have just stumbled across, others are with family plots.

Thank you,
