Hi, I was born and grew up in Pikeville, Bledsoe County, TN. Since I began researching my family tree in 2007, I have learned many things about thousands of relatives that I had never known about. |
I know there are many people who are, or soon will be, searching for their roots as well. I hope the information that I place on this website will assist them in locating a long-lost relative.
I'm researching the following family lines, as well as MANY OTHER LINES associated with Bledsoe County, Tennessee and MANY OTHER STATES: Allison, Anderson, Bowman, Boyd, Bradford, Campbell, Clifton, Craig, Green, Hale, Hall, Holland, Larcome, Massey, Maxwell, Pendergrass, Pleasants, Russell, Seagraves, Simmons, Skillern, Snow, Stanton, Stipe, Wheeler, and others.
I'm thrilled to report that, after a multi-year effort, I'm now the proud owner of one of the elusive "Skillern Family History and Genealogy" book.
My private database contains in excess of 112,000 individuals, although I have posted only a tiny percentage of my data on Ancestry.com Family Tree, Find A Grave, etc.
I recently had my DNA analyzed through Ancestry.com and 23andMe.com. The information contained in these test results continues to be invaluable to me in my quest to learn more about my family history, my health, and where my ancestors lived thousands of years ago.
According to my haplogroup, my Boyd line is believed to have originated in a place now known as Doggerland. You can learn more about it at the following websites:

ANCESTORS OF YESTERDAY
Ancestors of so long ago,
I'll search until I find.
Till I can prove and clearly show,
that you are truly mine.
I'll follow behind your trail of tears,
the hidden footprints of time.
Covered and buried throughout the years,
and continue each mountain to climb.
I'll search every faraway seaside shore,
and every valley below.
I'll unlock each and every door,
as my own teardrops flow.
I'll unearth the buried history of you,
and your own ancestral kin,
I'll search for that all important clue,
and open my heart to let you in.
Your tombstone stands among the rest:
Neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out -
on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
It is too late to mourn -
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet, each of us are cells of you:
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse -
entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled,
a hundred years ago -
Spreads out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew -
That some day I would find the spot;
And come and visit you?

I am Joan Scott and saw your post on James Rober Scott 1840.
My father (Jimmie E. Scott) and Mother Barbara Ann Hall are in your family tree.
Dad's side follows the Skillern family tree and I have a Skillern family tree book.
I would love the chance to speak with you and share info.

Hello, I had my DNA done through Ancestry.com DNA
Terry Tate(GG Grandson of Robert Barnes Turner and Sophronia Love Boyd Turner).
I've deleted Canzada Hale's memorial at Hale's Chapel since she's at Crossville City. Thanks for letting me know!

Mr. Boyd, Can you please give me some directions on how to get to Oak Grove Cemetery. I have been told it was off of Lower East Valley Road, but that's all they could remember. Thanks for your help

I see you have a photo of the headstone for Bell Zora Simmons-Simmons who is interred at The Ravenscroft Cemetery in White County, Tennessee.
Can you give me directions to the cemetery. I am aware of Ravenscroft and the Glade Creek Cemetery there in the corner of Putnam County but I do not know the location of the Cemetery that your grand aunt is at.

Yes, John was my father-in-law. I'm married to his son John Ronald. Good to meet family. I've done some genealogy research for the family, but met a few roadblocks. How do you connect in with the Girdley's?
|Christine ||Jacob Stipe|
Not sure why its taken me so long to find your Bio.. but glad I have now!
Jacob Stipe was my husband's adoptive father's Great Great Grandfather, we don't know a lot about he & Rebecca and their life in Tennessee but little by little we are learning more.. does anyone here have any info or stories about them that you could share?? All that we have is the very basics (mostly learned from Ancestry.com "green leaf" hints).. nothing of real substance :/
|Terry Tate||RE: Turner and Boyd Families of Nashville|
