RE: Parker Families of Calhoun County, Miss.
I wish I could help you, but I truly do not know the answers to your questions. My connection is that my g.grandfather was Burell W. parker, brother to your Henry Parker. They also had a brother named Willis Parker who came to Mississippi from Alabama and perhaps you could find someone who is related to him who could provide you with information. Additionally there is an Eloise Wolfe of Hickory Flat, Mississippi who might could help you. She is not on the internet, but perhaps you could call her. Hickory Flat is a small town so it would be easy to find her phone number Again, sorry I could not help you. Good Luck.

RE: William Garner Dixson
I figured he was named for a grandfather. What I don't understand is why he is DIXSON and all the rest of the family are DICKSON? His tombstone is the only one with DIXSON. All the rest show DICKSON. Why the name change? BevR

William Garner Dixson
Do you know why one son William Garner (Find A Grave #42181162) used DIXON and his father, Thomas Gilbert (Find A Grave 54967366) and siblings used DICKSON. Some have tombstone pictures with DICKSON. BevR

C G Mathis
Hi Mr. Latham
I am Vernon Guymon, great-great grandson of C G Mathis. You have provided a picture of C G Mathis's headstone on "Find a Grave" website. I have assumed that "C G" stood for "Charles Gideon". My Great grandfather, a son of C G Mathis, was named William Gideon Mathis. (His death certificate confirms that Gideon is William's middle name.) The picture of the headstone for C G Mathis does not enlighten us with respect to what "C G" stands for. Other records I have found verify "C = Charles" but I can't prove "G = Gideon". Can you verify that "G = Gabriel"?
Either response, " is why...", or "no"...would be appreciated. Thanks for the picture.

William Crawford (Billie) Davis
This is my great great grandfather and I noticed a note you had left on his page listing his wife, my great great grandmother Mary Etta, and that he was the father of three boys. He was the father of three boys who you mentioned and five girls. My great grandmother Irene Burrell, Nora Carden, Nola Butler, Verla Batchelor, and Pauline Beckman. I wasn't sure if you were aware of your error or not. Hopefully you can link them all up.

RE: McBee Cemetery - Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi
Hanah Cartwright Copeland is my great great great grandmother. Her grave in the Bowling Cemetery is less than 20 miles from me. I hope you are able to find the McBee Cemetery since it is so close to you.

RE: McBee Cemetery - Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi
Sorry, but I have not actually been to the McBee Cemetery. My first cousin, Melba Welch Wyatt, lives in Saucier, MS and found the cemetery back in the 1990s. The only marker they found was that of Aaron Evans. I will get in touch with her and ask her what she remembers about the trip. She gave me a copy of the picture of his marker and a listing from a book "Lowndes County, Mississippi Cemetery Records" by Rolfe B. Chase revised copy 1979. She had visited the Lowndes County Library in Columbus and they probably gave her directions. The book states: McBee Cemetery Location: 0.3 mile north of Route 50 on a gravel county road which runs north from Mississippi Route 50 at a point 0.4 mile east of McBee Baptist Church on the corner of Lehmberg Road and Route 50. The gravel road runs north and then swings west. The cemetery is on the south side of the gravel road."
She also found a Deed Record Book 31, page 130 Lowndes Co, MS where Margaret Copeland and others on 29 Jun 1858 where deeded land "containing one half an acre to include the space of ground known as the Bethel Church grave yard."
I hope this helps! Let me know if you find it.
Are you related to James W. Copeland?
