I was hatched in 1943. I was granted several degrees through 1985 and was involved in the music business from 1978 through 1985 and often provided Baldwin and Steinway concert grand pianos for international artists performing in the Detroit, Michigan concert stages, but, due to family health issues, our whole family moved to Arizona in 1985 where I entered the mortuary field as a Funeral Director which was something that I always wanted to do since I was a teenager. I was also organist at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson for five years. I have been active in the American Theatre Organ Society and the American Guild of Organists. I retired from the funeral business to the Seattle, Washington area in 2007 and stayed there for six months, but the personal climate was not for me. I moved to Auburndale, Florida for a year, but I decided to return to Tucson, Arizona. I am back playing organ for a local church in Tucson. Family history and helping others to find relatives are both very special to me. My sister, Lorraine Gene Caplin (now deceased with a memorial site on Find A Grave) was our original family historian. My younger brother, Larry L. Caplin, is alive and well and living in the Seattle area and is also into Find A Grave (he got me started "Graving") which is time consuming, but although there are difficult times dealing with picture "input", it is well worth the time spent. I am always looking for information about James Capling (with the added "g") who died in Traverse City, Michigan in 1914.
