RE: Aurilla Whitney transcription Hi Fran, We do have the original pictures of the headstones. I went back and looked at all of them, but the stones are so very worn, I can't make out much of the inscriptions. It doesn't look like there is much more than the dates, and maybe age at death. Sorry.
RE: Lake Hills Cemetery The Deseret Mortuary in Salt Lake handled the cremation services. A memorial service was held at Lake Hills Mortuary in Sandy. The person who added the memorial on F.A.G. assumed burial followed. A call to the cemetery confirmed he is not buried there. No idea where he is.
Marva Rae Stanger Dear Fran: Is Marva Rae a relative of yours. If not would you consider a transfer. I have her obituary I can add and lots of stories. I was very close to her whole family when we were growing up. If not would you let me email you her obituary or tell you where you can find it. So her bio can get put on. She also needs to be linked to her family. Sincerely: Esther Kinder
Obituary Information Newspaper, Downey, Los Angeles County, California. Date: Thursday, August 24, 1933: "THOMAS O. HOOKER KILLED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT TUESDAY" "Thomas O. Hooker, of the Rivera district, was instantly killed Tuesday morning at the corner of Firestone and Paramount Boulevards when the car he was driving crashed with a ten ton truck loaded with gravel. He was thrown out of his car in the path of the heavy truck, and one of the wheels passed over his head. The gravel truck was driven by Amos Hoyt, Gardena, who stated the sedan Hooker was driving, loomed up in front of him as he was rounding the corner and was on the wrong side of the street. He made a desperate attempt to avoid the collision. The body of Hooker was removed to the Thos. L. Miller funeral parlor and an inquest held this morning. The jury found both drivers at fault. Mr. Hooker, 63 years of age, had lived in this district for seven years, coming here from Brownsfield, Texas. He had been Commissioner of Terry County, Texas for nearly two terms. For some time he has been residing on the F. B. Lyons ranch of San Gabriel Boulevard. Funeral services will be held at one o'clock this afternoon at the grave at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Elder J. A. Moore, of the Primitive Baptist Church, will be in charge of the service. He leaves to mourn their loss his widow, Mrs. Emily Hooker; sons Oliver of the George Barber ranch; William, Long Beach; Thomas, Bakersfield; John, of Texas; and daughters, Mrs. Meta Jenkins, Porterville, and Mrs. Ora Jones, of Hugh."
RE: Thank You! Hi Fran. I'm glad you like the pictures I took of the Canfields. I think the snow adds a little interest. I had added a page for Frederick A., but I deleted it and added the pictures to the page you created - Frederick was handsome! I've added the monument picture to their parents' pages and submitted an edit to correct the spelling of Edmund's first name. Do you want me to add the monument picture to Louisa's page? She has her own headstone, but she is mentioned on the monument also. I wanted to try to fulfill your requests before the big storm hit. I don't know where you live, but we've gotten 3-4 inches so far today. Regards, Joan
Aston and Carson I will be happy to work with you regarding these families. If you would provide me with an e-mail address, that would be preferable to the findagrave public messaging (include in an EDIT message). I have limited internet access and may be unavailable until Oct. 2. Liz
