|Bio and Links|
Since it seems FindAGrave profiles are more of a soapbox platform than anything else these days, here's my speech:|
If you use my tombstone photos, as with all things of this nature, credit should be given. (Yes, Ancestry.com did purchase FindAGrave - but if you will notice, they didn't change the legality of copyrights by doing so. We DO still own our photos, that has never changed!)
You may credit to either "M. Branon" or "West Kentucky Genealogy" (or hey, add both if you're feeling froggy, I don't mind)
Do NOT use any of my photos here that are considered to be "modern" era - I have personal family photos on a few family member's memorials and these are my photos, not to be posted anywhere else by others. (again: copyright DOES apply here and FindAGrave supports that)
For all older photos, please link to the site source at the very least. That way people are able to locate the origin of the photograph.
Thank you for understanding.
A major issue I am running into is when people take MY family photos from a memorial and upload them to their Ancestry.com tree without ANY source whatsoever -
(or even asking me first.. if we're family, you'd think you'd want to get in touch, right? So who are you people using my pics??)
- and then completely mess up the entire thing and add the most horridly wrong information you can even imagine.
I DO have my family info here detailed and correct - have some respect if you are planning to use it!!
Especially since I have it written out for you in proper order, there is no excuse for some of the things I have seen.
Have respect for others as well as yourself. The integrity of your work should mean something to you.
It's sad this even has to be said:
Repeated harassment for transfer of a memorial because it is a surname you are trying to hoard is not permitted on this site.
It is a database, NOT a game.
I have actually had people fighting over a memorial they ''thought'' was ''maybe'' their family.
When I have 5 people who are in a major uproar over a memorial they ''think'' is their great-great-great-great grandpa/grandma/aunt/uncle, nobody is getting the transfer.
FindAGrave is clear in their transfer guidelines: IMMEDIATE FAMILY ONLY
Do I transfer outside of that requirement? Yes, absolutely!
Unless the uncalled for issue of harassment pops up and for SOME reason, it DOES pop up.
The only other time I will not transfer is if it is my family, of course.
