I have been doing genealogy for many years. My goals now are to further document and flesh out the line with interesting and less available details. I am also trying to share as much as I can on the web as this leads to meeting my goals. Please feel free to email me with additions, corrections or questions. Thank you. I often add flowers as a coutesy to other graves in the cemetery where relatives are buried, so if you think we are related, please check out my website on rootsweb which is updated on the 1st of each month. I publish all my info, so if you find a relative, check back monthly for updates. |
P.S. I think this is one of the most helpful sites on the net.
Thank you so much to the people who generously donate their time and money to provide information, photographs, and floral contributions to people who may never be able to thank them. I especially appreciate those who remember this is much bigger than ourselves and consistently maintain their memorials in a professional manner, treating others volunteers in the respectful way in which they like to be treated.
Please use the edit tab on the memorial to make corrections as I have entered a lot of data, and unless you provide the # of the memorial, I have no idea who you are referring to. A message posted here tends to be ignored where an email is dealt with immediately. Thanks.

Thank you for adding Page to her profile. I've been stuck on her for years!(she's my great great grandma) I'm hoping to find more in her parents as well. I love the Old North Church Cemetery and how a lot of my family is buried there.

I think you may have duplicated Allie Lewis in the Reeds Lake Cemetery. No. 46295216 appears to have the most information & 46295202 has the least. Just thought I would bring this to your attention in case you want to delete 46295202.

Well, thanks for removing the one anyway. No, only the person who added the photo can remove it from a memorial. Just thought it rather redundant and cluttering to have 2 pictures of the same gravemarker when the one gravemarker is more than adequate and far more legible.

I have to take your word on these folks. I just try to shoot good pics on bright sunny days. It's the rare individual where I already have factoids at my disposal.
The inscription for these people happens to face north - where the sun never shines. Under the circumstances, the pic - using the flash - turned out a whole lot better than could be expected.
My memorial was posted 1st. Please delete yours. You can't fix it by transferring it to me.

I was speaking to my cousin Barbara Atkins last week and she had a little bit more info about Aunt Elsie. She said the Bakers and the Atkins (Barbara's father family) came to Schott area of Texas together and worked together. The Bakers had a lot of land and the Atkins didn't so they share cropped. So Uncle Walter married a Baker and his sister Nora married an Atkins. My understanding is that the Baker family was prominent in that area.
We have lost touch with Uncle Walter & Aunt Elsie's daughter as she is very reclusive and we understand she moved to Arkansas.

Thanks so much for the edit on Robert. After getting your edit I noticed that burial records had his wife Catharine with that birthday. I decided to go out to the cemetery to see if they had a stone. They did have a stone with full dates. The records had their birthdays backwards. The correct birthdays are now on their memorials and I also added pics. Thanks again.

I lost contact with you and would like to reconnect with you. I tried sending a email but got a failure notice. My email is : email@example.com. The last I had talked with you, you had offered to send me a copy of Jewels diary if I would pay for the copy and shipping. I so want to get a copy of it. Hope you get this!
Great granddaughter of Jewel Walker.
Mary, I recently sent a couple edits for Old North Church Cemetery concerning the McCuistion family that you declined. I'm currently working on the historical preservation of the cemetery - visiting the site and cross-referencing the names and dates on the stones with Find-a-Grave data. When there is a conflict, I use death certificates, census data, and marriage records to resolve the issue. sometimes I upload photos to better show the dates on the headstones.
I think some confusion has happened due to incorrect notes in the Nacogdoches County Cemetery records. In it Ed McCuistion is listed as as Artie McCuistion's father instead of her spouse. He was her husband, as shown by the marriage records.
You have a memorial for Edwin Marion McCuistion, Sr. #15466794. On the memorial you have kindly listed his 3 wives and their children. His 3 wives are Neatie, Artie Crisp, and Elizabeth 'Bettie' Corley.
He married Neatie Sanders in 1888. She had Clara and Lucius. She died in 1893 and he married Artie Crisp (1878-1898) in 1896. I located and verified the Nacogdoches County marriage certificate for this. She had Frank in 1898 and Edwin Marion Jr in 1899. She died in 1899.
Ed M Sr. didn't marry his 3rd wife, Bettie Corley until 1901.
There was no child named Artie McCuistion born in 1898, and there is no stone marked for a baby named Artie. The only stone for Artie McCuistion is for the wife, born 1878-died 1898. She is buried near Ed McCuistion and his other two wives in the McCuistion plot. Children who died as infants are also buried there. There is no Artie infant.
The following corrections need to be made:
Memorial #15466692 - change the date of birth to 1878 to match the stone. Change Ed McCuistion #15466794 from her father to her husband. Remove the note for daughter of Ed and Bettie Corley McCuistion (Ed didn't marry Bettie until 1901 anyway).
Memorial #15467026 - Frank - change the bio to son of Ed and ARTIE McCuistion.
Memorial #15466762 - Ed Jr. - change the bio to son of Ed and ARTIE McCuistion.
I would be glad to resubmit edits for the above changes if it would be easier.
Thanks so much,
