Photo Requests: |
Each FindAGrave member is allowed 20 photo requests per week. These requests DO NOT have to be friends or family relations. Have you ever considered using your requests to encourage Photo Volunteers? Many cemeteries have a low percentage of photographed grave markers. Why not "Adopt A Cemetery" and post photo requests weekly? (Personally, I have "adopted" Willamette National Cemetery.)

FindAGrave memorials are nearing 174,000 and photographed gravesites are up to 42%. Great job, volunteers! Thank you.

Pay It Forward
Findagrave rules clearly state that burial unknown, where the cemetery has not been located after 30 days are not subject to the normal seniority rules on resolving duplicates. Contributors who have posted memorials with known burial location may as a courtesy remove their memorial if an older unknown burial memorial is edited and moved into the correct cemetery but the contributor who found the burial location first is under no obligation to do so...

|J McL||RE: Willamette National Cemetery|
You're very welcome! My husbands parents and various relations of mine are buried there. For the past 6 years I have been working alone on entries and photos at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Now that I am almost done with it I find WNC is located near my daughters home. I hate running out of things to do so I photograph!

Good morning: I was working on my Ancestry.com this morning and saw that the Find A Grave Memorial was available to attach to my father's record. So went on the site, and there was the photo of the grave marker. I didn't think it would be installed so quickly, and was moved to tears to see it. Thank you so much for taking the photo and uploading to Find a Grave. Jo McGuinness

Many thanks for posting the marker photo. For the record, the marker at Willamette National is a cenotaph only; the cremains are inurned at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum with his wife, Charlotte (see my photo). To avoid confusion, would you please add a notation to your photo indicating the Willamette National marker is a cenotaph? Thank you.

|sbechman||Conrad Walther, b.1712?|
I recently learned that a Y-DNA test that I submitted from my Walters cousin matched another Walters that claims to be directly descended from Conrad Walters.
I'm trying to "prove out" his family pedigree chart. I am really struggling with the idea that Conrad Walters, b. 1712, would not have married until his 40s and had children into his late 60s - specifically, his claimed son, Conrad Jr., born c1770? My DNA match seems to not have anything that specifically confirms this. It seems far more likely to me that there is a generation (or two?) between the two Conrads.
Do you have any background information on Conrad Sr. that would substantiate this claim? I'd really appreciate anything you might have.

Thank you so much for taking and posting the photo of Alice LaChapelle's place of internment. It means a lot to me and I'm sure to her family that isn't nearby.
