Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been working on genealogy since the mid 1980's. I was born and raised in NW Indiana.
If there are any photo's you need from this area I'll see what I can do.
I don't mind if you use the photo's I post as long as you are doing it respectfully and give credit where credit is due. I believe that genealogy and research should be shared. I am not in it for the numbers of being the one who's taken the most photo's or written the most memorials. And I will transfer any memorial that I have added to a registered family member of the person. Please request respectfully and let me know your relationship.
When I create memorials that aren't my direct ancestors, I feel it is a privilege to pass them on. I like to help people "see" their loved ones.
I'm not in this to write all sorts of rules for others to try to follow. I don't believe this site is about that. I believe this site is about helping others to find their long lost loved ones. And if I can help others do that without trying to make myself look "important" then that is what I will do.
Thank you.

RE: Law
Hi. Thanks for your note. We aren't related to the Law family at Greenville - Union Cemetery, though. ;0) We were at the cemetery to look for our Amspaugh family connections and, while there, decided to see if we could fill some photo requests too. Our Law family came to western PA from Hartlepool, England in the late 1880's. Most of the family stayed and raised their families in that state, but our direct line came to Ohio in the 1940's.

RE: Dishman Cemeteries
Carol, I just got off the phone with the librarian in Wayne Co KY. She said that actually there was only the one Dishman Cem in Slickford but some call the place where Silas Dishman is bur Dishman Cem bec it is on Dishman land and all buried there are family. So this is like one of those family cemeteries where long ago people buried their own on their property. So legally I guess it isn't called Dishman Cem, but it is called that bec it is on Dishman land and is a family cemetery and consists of Dishman's or relation. So that explains that.

Thanks
Nola

RE: 83048018 - Mollie Law
Hi Carol,

I was out at the Germantown Cemetery this afternoon retaking a photo of another gravestone and thought I would try to get a better one of Mollie's. The date of birth they show on her memorial kind of bugged me for some reason. I found a death record for her on Family Search and it showed she was 28 years and 7 days old (at least it looks like 28, but I am not so sure of that). I have taken off the other photo and added the new one. It is a bit clearer. It looks like it has 1861-1886 on it. I am wondering if that 8 on her death record is really a 5. Sometimes people get a little wild when writing letters and numbers. LOL Thought you would like to see the new one.

You wouldn't happen to know the middle name or initial of Lavina's father would you? I think there is a marker for him there. It is difficult to read, which may be why they show his grave as unmarked on his memorial. I took a photo of it today and it looks like it has the initials J L C on it, but can't make out any dates. If you don't know, I will email the creator of his memorial to see if she knows.

Hope this helps.

RE: Upchurch Cemeteries
Thanks for info on how many cemeteries named Upchurch are there. I asked the librarian how many cemeteries with the name Dishman in them are there also and she didn't seem to understand the question. Some think there are two and some think just one in Wayne Co KY.

RE: 83048016 - Lavina Law
You are welcome, Carol. I found her death certificate and have requested an edit for her date of birth and death. I see that her parents were John Coleman and Ann Boyer. There is a John Coleman buried in the section where Lavina is, but there is no marker for him. The death certificate showed that her husband was James Law, but I do not know if the J. A. Law that is buried in that section is her husband or not. If you need her death certificate, it is on the Family Search web site. Hope this helps.

RE: Upchurch Cemeteries
I was told there was only one Upchurch Cem in Slickford?? Not sure but that is what a person told me from the libr a while back. I would pick the one where the other Dishman's are buried I think there are way more people in there. If you contact Find A Grave they will merge the two cemeteries if you tell them they are dups. I will try to contact the lib again and check once more and then get in touch with Find A Grave.

Thanks

RE: 83048016 - Lavina Law
I added the photo of the location of where Lavina is buried and made a note with the photo that there is no marker and that Mollie and J. A. Law are also buried in that section and have markers. I am sorry I couldn't help you more.

Have a great week!
