Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, for they tell the story of their time.

Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, for this provides proof.

Blessed are grandmothers who preserve family Bibles and diaries, for this is our heritage.

Blessed are father who elect officials that answer letter of inquiry, for some, this is their only link to the past.

Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, for one of her children will surely remember.

Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, for them we owe the family history.

Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, for theirs is a labour of love.

Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."

Henry Clay Newman Picture
Dee Dee,

I recently saw your Henry Clay Newman and Orienda Ann Davis Picture on the find a grave website. My wife is a descendant of HC Newman, by his son Clay Ezekial Newman. I was wondering if you are part of the Newman family or if you can tell me the source of the picture you posted? I have been researching the Newmans of Texas for some time, and would like to reach out to others researching them.

Thanks, Michael Frazer

Lenora Harris Burks
I am researching my wife's Burks iine and William Burks 1745-1845 and Lenora 1750-1800 are in it. I am trying to confirm links for the DAR and SAR as I believe William fought for Virginia in the Revolution and want to go though the process to register but cannot confirm which William Burks from Virginia he was as there were a number of them from Virginia in the Revolution.
Also, he may have served in the NC Line, but I do not believed they moved to NC in time for that to occur, though I realize they were married in NC in 1765. Do you have any more information on their generation and locations?
Their son Elisha Burks b. 1773 in Virginia m. Patience Dunston 30 Jan 1801 in Oglethorpe, Georgia and her Burks line is through them and then Jonathan Burks/Unity Fowler-Jeremiah M Burks/Omar Elihu Burks/Grady Burks

Question Funderburk/Vail
My name is Heather Brown. I am the grand daughter of Cloanah A. Lehr. Her parents were: Mary Jane Vail and John Curtis Lehr. Grandparents were: Jonas Q. Vail and Telitha S. It goes back further. I do run into John Michal Vail who was married to Rachel Funderburk. I saw your name listed on the find a grave site. I was wondering how you might be related? Also if you have any information on the family. My mom has passed on and so did my grandmother. I am trying to trace my family history and looking to learn all i can.

I tried to send you an email but came back undelivered.

Elizabeth Isaline Green McGinnis Memorial# 116671516
Hello Shirley,
I have met up with a few family members here on find a grave and I saw that you had added flowers to Elizabeth's memorial. She is my Great Grandfathers sister, Benjamin Franklin Green.
I would love to know if Elizabeth is related.
Thank you. Hope to hear from you soon.

I am impressed!! I just joined Find a grave a couple days ago and thought I could give a little info about some of my family and "Bingo" it took one day to add some info. I really didn't know what I was getting into or exactly how to do it, But I think I could add some info in the near future about some of the Head family since I have been looking at a lot at my relatives in various cemeteries in Ouachita and Jackson parish. Some info about me, I am the youngest son of Marshall Head and Ethel Head (77)(there at Luna) and I live in the Chicago, Ill. area. A lot of my relatives are buried there and my uncle Tom Rawls donated the land for the cemetery. I was just wondering who you were and if you care to contact me at I would appreciate it. I would say you are doing a marvelous job. Thanks.

Thank you for placing Britton Barker on find a grave.

Find A Grave Memorial# 10501364

My husband descends fron two of Britton's and Celia's children. My husband descends from both William N and Elizabeth A Barker. Because of the type of script used in documents back then Elizabeth Barker's husband's name is often misspelled. Elizabeth married Jesse Parker. She was Jesse Parker's second wife. His first wife was Sarah.....perhaps Wiley. Jesse Parker had seven children by both of his wives. William and Elizabeth are both buried in Walker Co., Texas. Yep, that makes my husband his own cousin. Ha ha
