As a lifetime history buff, and having lived near some old cemeteries, it is only "natural" that the two are now combined.
I've catalogued all the Confederate fallen in the Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetery in Spotsylvania Courthouse, Va. I will soon publish a roster/book with these findings and short bios/service records of these men. A copy will be presented to the Spotsylvania Courthouse Museum.
Also, I'm in the process of doing the same for the Confederate fallen and veterans in the Fredericksburg Confederate and City cemeteries.
As Historian of the above cemeteries, please feel free to inquire of any Confederate burials.
Also, I give tours of each.
The Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields National Park Service refers Confederate burial inquiries to me.

Hi, you submitted a picture of my great-great grandfather on this page.
Can you tell me where you got it? Might you have found it on a web site?

I don't know who Eileen is. That is strange 2 in one day. My source is the Descendants of Rev. James Keith which is on Ancestry.com. I am directly from the Keith's, and have been researching them for many years along with my mother.

It is an older cemetery, there is alot of unmarked graves. I can go to the public library and find out for sure.
|L. K. Perry||Alfred M Strother|
All the children were from the first marriage.
The 1920 census of Alexandria lists Sarah J. Strother (82) as a widow. She is living with her unmarried sisters Julia F. Brawner (84) and Virginia E. Brawner (80) in a house at 1225 King Street.
Lynne Simpson wrote me, "Sarah Jane Brawner (often called Sally)... [and] Alfred Strother ... had no children. She died May 27th, 1927, age 91 years. She is buried in Union Cemetery, Alexandria, VA."
It is possible that she is the Sarah Jane BRAWNER in Find A Grave Memorial# 131614848. I think it is, since her parents (Basil and Melinda) and sisters Julia and Virginia also are buried there.
Union Cemetery is now known as Washington Street United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Their only brother, William Garner Brawner, was killed in battle during the War. I am sure you know all about that. See Find A Grave Memorial# 113693805. (Grave marker says William Gardner Brawner, but his his maternal grandfather was Garner Fortune.)

That was a great obit. I wasn't sure about the day he was born. You can use the edit tab or send me a message.
Thank you for all you have done for our confederate heroes.

Big French... I appreciate all of the work you are doing here at Find-a-Grave. You have created several memorials for various relations; including the Sparrow-Dashiell, aunts & uncles and cousins who are buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. That family was known for their Episcopal ministers, educators and soldiers in the early to late 19th century.
On another note, great photo of you with the "Bowie" knife at your induction in the MOSB. ~ many thanks aagin for your help linking the relatives, George Gaston

Thank you for this posting and the picture of his tombstone. Was the tombstone part of a National Park project? Jacob is a cousin and his name is also inscribed on a tombstone memorial, along with his brother George, at cemetery in North Carolina. Both were killed in the Civil War.
thank you for the info.
so disappointed tho

I should have added that Robert S Andrews was the father of Mary H Andrews Bruce, Williams wife.
