We place a great deal of value on preserving the past for the future. Both of us have ancestors who were among the earliest pilgrims. We enjoy getting to know our families through genealogy.|
Find A Grave is a great resource. We are avid photographers and look forward to contributing to the knowledge/photo data base.
If you would like a photo taken of tombstone, memorial, marker, etc.... in the Michiana area (weather permitting), we'll try to take it for you.

You're welcome. No I am not related in any way. I came across the death record while searching for another name. Let me know when you want the DC removed. Have a safe trip. :)

Martha J. "Mattie" Shrode Lashbrook # 48916135
I just sent you a couple of edits on the birth and death dates and places for this lady. I have added a copy of her death record to her memorial for you to see. Once you have seen it and if you would like me to take it off, just let me know and I will remove it. I thought you might like to get some info off of it if she is a relation. Also wanted to let you know that she and her husband are linked to a child that was born and died long before either parent was born.
Have a great day.
Thank you for your time,

Hi Rebecca... Yes, I am of the Shrode clan. Clarence Fairfield was my mother's father. My mother left the area when she was just 17 and returned to live out her retirement here. She died in 1993. I moved from Wyoming and am in the process of moving back. I love the history of this county. Clarence married Mary Dane, dtr of James & Mary Carson Dane, whose grandmother was a water bearer and nurse in the Revolutionary War. They made their way to Pennsylvania and their children made their way to Spencer County. The library in Rockport is a treasure trove of early Spencer county history. Actually, I posted the thread on FB looking for Minnie.

I made note of Edward & Mary "Mickey" names & Margaret's stone description. This reminds me of how markers flat on ground get covered up partially with grass growth and dirt changing to mud depending on the land surrounding them. I have one marker in my husb's family that was covered with mud and wiped some off with bottom of my shoe to get a pic but would love to go back with a spray bottle of water. Makes me want to bring rags, water, clippers to cemeteries to get better pics. Hope to venture out to a dif cemetery today to fulfill some other findagrave requests. But it's not problem to stop by Rose Hill often since I drive near or past it every time I go out.

Wasn't sure if you saw the pic I posted to #44122414 of area around the Percell marker. Wonder if there are Percell graves without stones in this area - such as Margaret Percell Work that has a pic request for her stone? So far not luck in finding Margaret the first 2 days I went there.

Thanks for info on Mary & Gains. Had wondered where the pics came from. I'll update "description" of pic of plot with your info. I'll also work on finding out if anyone else was buried there. Will need to start another "to do" list LOL.
