Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in the Richmond, Virginia area and have been taking gravestone photos for over 3 years after I discovered what a great tool a digital camera is for that kind of work. I am trying to photograph as many of the cemetries as I can in the area. I also take my camera whenever I travel and and usually end up with photos from some distant cemeteries.

I am the volunteer coordinator for the clean up of East End Cemetery in Richmond. Please contact me if you are interested in helping with the clean up effort.

The vast majority of the gravestone pictures that I've entered are of people I don't know. I've entered them to help others. If you'd like me to fix, add to, and/or delete any of your family members please email me and I'll make the change as quickly as possible. If you would like a copy of the original picture, let me know and I will be glad to email it to you.

If you would like me to transfer an entry to you, please let me know. I will be glad to do that.

Please request transfers and updates/corrections through the Suggest a Correction function so that I make sure I update the correct entry.

Note that much of the CSA related info for burials at Hollywood Cemetery was provided by Scott Hutchinson.

John

Dena Grace Owens - Forest Lawn
This is Dena Grace Wilkerson, daughter of William Robert Wilkerson and Bettie Duncan of Oxford, Granville, NC.
Dena must have really liked to "fudge" her birthdate because her first marriage took place in 1912 and she was 18 at the time. That would have made her 12 if she was born in 1900 as her death certificate and marker indicate. She later married William S Owens and lived in Virginia --where she passed away and we find her much younger on the marker than her marriage and census records indicate. This is part of why she was so difficult to locate. Her husband Mr Owens also could not provide her parents names (her mom died when she was a child (age 6 on the 1900 Census so she could not have been born in 1900--it also say her birthdate was May 1894...) and after the grandparents died in 1905 and 1909 we lose track of her. Glad she is found even if some of the info is wrong.

Your Rejection of my Suggested Changes
You recently rejected changes I suggested for Mattie Jackson Chandler King (#36487812) because you stated my data did not agree with yours. I'm not sure what data you have as I was working from both a birth certificate and death certificate. Would you like copies? Parents names are listed on both documents. If you send me an email at dickcole1853@verizon.net, I'd be happy to provide documents to make this memorial accurate.

Nassau contact
I've agreed to help my friend Susan Hayes Hatcher in South Carolina, find a contact in the Bahamas, specifically Nassau. If you can help please refer me to someone who is on site in Nassau. Susan Hayes Hatcher wants to visit the records archives in Nassau....someone she could communicate with, someone who could give her some tips, suggestions, etc. on sources, locations of information. I'd appreciate hearing back from you. Basically I'm looking for a Nassau contact, someone who you might turn to for direction, help, etc. srperhala2010@yahoo.com

Thank you John for accepting those edits for Lena (and so quickly too). And thanks for creating and maintaining her memorial to begin with, so I could find and connect her with family.

Cynthia Rayburn
Peters -Elizabeth & Lou Fannie
Hello My name is Cindy Rayburn and I am looking into the Peters gravestone in Section Q at Woodland Cemetery in Richmond. Lou Fannie Peters raised and took care of my mother in law many years ago. The dates of birth and death of each of the two sisters on this stone do not match up with what my mother in law knows about these two sisters. Where are the original burial records for Woodland and how can I verify the information on the headstone? I have obtained each of their Death Certificates but this information is also in error. I hope that you can help us. WE are in Richmond this week looking for answers to these questions.
Thank you for your help and for taking on this incredible task. It is greatly appreciated.
With warmest regards and gratitude,
Cindy Rayburn
