|Shawn Martin||James S. Moats|
i did some further searching online and came across the Moats ancestry (http://www.tx4.us/family/MOATS.100) that includes the indivisuals buried in Silver Lake. There is only one James S. Moats:
100-8a-6 1st husb. James S. MOATS b. c1838 Wood CO. VA, marr. 5 Oct 1862 Ritchie Co, served co. K 3rd Reg. VA (WV?) Vol, missing in action 26 Aug 1863 (ref: military records), d. 26/27 Aug 1863 near White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier Co, "killed in action, Rocky Gap Fight", bur. National Cem., Grafton WV
The John P. Moats that is buried in Silver Lake has the same birth and death date that you are listing for James:
100-8a-4b 2nd husb. John P. MOATS b. 1835 Wood Co. VA, 2nd marr. 6 Oct 1870 Ritchie Co. WV, d. 12 Dec 1872 Silver Lake, Shawnee Co. KS of Smallpox, bur. Silver Lake Cem, Shawnee Co. KS
do you have any other information that suggests James S. Moats lived in Silver Lake and/or was buried there?

HELLO! I NOTICED THAT THE SEARCH TERMS DO NOT INCLUDE "BUYER" WHICH IS WHAT IS ON HER HEADSTONE AND WAS HER LEGAL LAST NAME AT THE TIME OF HER DEATH. IS THERE ANY WAY YOU CAN CHANGE THIS PLEASE?

Hi Bertha -
I looked her up on Ancestry and the latest I came up with was that she and husband William and their family lived in Woodbine, Harrison County, at the 1860 U.S. Census. As we know, the 1880 Census, which would have told you where they were, was lost in a fire. Bummer!
The other thing I thought of was that the newpaper clipping was from the Malvern Leader. If that obit referring to the 'cemetery east of town' is correctly referring to her having been buried east of Malvern rather than east of Hillsdale, then a whole new group of possible cemeteries opens up to you. Where were other relatives buried? I'd check them out too if I were you.
I can vouch that there is no marker, nor any record of her burial in Hillsdale. However, there was a tornado that swept through the cemetery (date unknown) which took many of the stones away. Hillsdale therefore has a high proportion of unmarked graves. Hers might be one of those. But even with that circumstance, some kind of burial record should have existed.
Sorry I couldn't help you more. Good luck!

Hi again -
The photo for her grave that you posted is not correct. I've posted correct photos. Would you please remove yours?
Thanx for your help!

I'm doing a photo project at Lincoln Memorial Park mausoleum, Portland, Oregon. I found and photographed the crypt for Gertrude Alice Knowlton. Her crypt is next to her husband, Frank D. Knowlton. I've added photos to Alice's memorial page and linked her to her husband's memorial page. They are in the Mausoleum, Dahlia Corridor, with Alice in crypt 206.
If you don't like my photos, or don't want them on her memorial page, please contact me and I'll remove them.

Thanx for adding the info! I've created a memorial for Mariah and will be posting a photo soon.
