Re Christian Almas
Thankyou, thankyou, THANKYOU! After numerous messages here and by email to the original contributor, plus two messages (the first probably not received) to Find-a-Grave Admin, the memorial for Christian Almas is _at last_ in the right Find-a-Grave cemetery!

I photographed most (but not yet all) of the gravestones in St. Peter's aka Barton Union Cemetery during the summer of 2010, and will be posting memorials (with pictures of course) over the course of the coming winter. There are several Almas descendents buried there.

Unfortunately, I understand from other internet sources (various Almas and Bacher family trees and Message Boards), that the stone for Christian Almas and Magdalena Baker/Bacher was in poor repair in the 1920s and apparently disappeared about that time. I plan to look into this further by inquiring at the Hamilton Municipal Cemeteries office.

Descendants of Christian and Magdalena Almas can still be found in the Hamilton and Ancaster area, as well as all over North America.

Re Christian Almas - Please move to BARTON Union Cemetery, Hamilton
The book "Ancaster's Heritage, Vol. 1", published in 1973 by the Ancaster Historical Society, firmly states that Christian Almas and his wife Magdalena Baker Almas, were buried in BARTON UNION Cemetery (aka Saint Peter's Cemetery) on Mohawk Road West, on "The Mountain", Hamilton, Ontario.

Please _remove_ Christian Almas, memorial #45396827, from *Barrie* Union Cemetery, into BARTON Union Cemetery.

This is at least the fifth (5th) message I have sent you since February 2010, to request that this change be made.

Re: Christian Almas, Memorial# 45396827
PS:
One of the cemeteries along Rymal Road in Hamilton, is BARTON Union Cemetery (aka Saint Peters Cemetery, Rymal Cemetery). There are several other Almas burials there (although not yet listed on Find A Grave), because I visited it in May this year. You might wish to consider moving Christian to BARTON Union Cemetery instead.

Re: Christian Almas, Memorial# 45396827
Hello, Heather =])
Since March 2010 I've sent you two SACs regarding this memorial, but unfortunately have not yet heard from you, nor seen any action taken on my suggested correction. The record was added by you on Dec 13, 2009, so it's clear that you have recently been active on Find-a-Grave.

According to both the cemetery transcript book and the Office records, Christian Almas is _not_ buried in Barrie Union Cemetery. Indeed, the cemetery was not even established until nearly a quarter century after this person died. Also, Barrie is nearly 3 hours modern-time-driving distance from Ancaster, so it's even more unlikely that they transported his/her body so far in that day and age.

Please move Christian Almas out to either Burial Unknown or into another cemetery closer to where he/she died. There are many many Almas burials in the Ancaster/Hamilton area, including several in small cemeteries along Rymal Road "on the Mountain". A local library or genealogical society in the area may be able to help determine where Christian's remains lie.

I do hope you will (eventually) see this message and move this memorial to a more appropriate 'place of rest'.

All the best, =])
Beth in Barrie, ON.
