Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired naval officer. I am addicted to genealogy. I love puttering around in cemeteries, even if I don't know any of the people there personally. I like to find and meet new cousins that I didn't know previously and share genealogical info with them. If you go back far enough, we are all cousins.

Families I am particularly interested in include:
Zellner, Coffey, Harrell, Welch, Hayes, Rucker, Hipsher/Hipshire, Lorenz, Slocum, and Adams. The Millers were Volga Germans who immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1875. I have lots of information on them and the other Volga German families they intermarried with. I am happy to share with anyone who is researching that area.

I am always happy to transfer to a relative, even a distant one (unless they are my relatives, too!). I don't mind managing all the records I have created, but I am more than happy to transfer them to someone else with a direct interest to manage.

Feel free to use any photo I have posted. I wouldn't have posted them, if I didn't want to share.

Good Hunting!

RE: Transfers
Thank you so much! I really do appreciate it. I probably am shy about asking because I've had an unfortunate encounter with someone who was more interested in keeping her numbers up than allowing family to add more information, connections, etc. So, your kindness in handling the memorials that you do is appreciated that much more!

Thank you again!

RE: What's in a name
We feel each other's pain.

One of my INDIANA Slatens named a son William Coffey Slaton, they lived in Paoli, IN, after migrating from SC to N AL. No explanation from his daughter re the Coffey name, but it was somehow transmogrified into the initial "M" in one census record.

Thanks very much. Unfortunately, researching this family from the old records down shows the older records, and doing them from recent records back shows totally different surname variations, because of spelling/pronunciation. Although I am now SLAYTON, all of my ancestors records before the 20th c are SLATEN, SLATTEN and SLATTON. This creates a lot of confusion until the graves are actually found and images, so I really appreciate your action. Yours might be "righter" because he is probably buried under SLATON, but his father was always SLATTON. We found his father's stone in a backyard, just behind where they park their vehicles at bumper height. They are members of his family, but when they sell or otherwise dispose of the property, anybody's guess as to knows how long those stones will survive.

RE: Millers
Thank you for your response. I'm sure we all tie together in some form or fashion down the way. Lots of Welches & Hayes in my neck of the woods but I don't think I'm directly related to any of them. Have a nice day, it's a rainy one here in Tn today. Nice to meet you! Sstansberry

Re: Miller family line
My maiden name is Miller, I do not have as much information as I would like to have on that side of my family. I have only made it back to Frank P. Miller(1829-1906) in Union County. I have picture of a Pleasant Miller but I can not find hoe he connects with my family. I would love to know more about Frank if you have any information on his line then it would be much appreciated. Good day to you, s.stansberry
