Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a US Navy SKC(SW) retired and doing this just because I like to. I have received UNBELIEVABLE help with my genealogy research from several people on Find-a-Grave (and connected with long lost family) and will do the same in return, if I can.

My primary surnames for research are indicated by my virtual cemeteries. If I manage a memorial and you are more closely related to the person than me, I will gladly transfer it to you upon request. If you need any help with research in the Clark County WA or Multnomah County OR areas, just ask and I will do whatever I can to assist.

Fair winds and following seas, shipmate.

You asked some time ago if his inscription could read 88 years old.

He has a civil war GAR marker, indicating he was a soldier. I don't think they would have taken an 86 year old man. Seems much more likely he was 58 when he died. Snow may never melt around here. I'll take a look when it does.

The stone has Dec. 21, 1906. This is what I will keep as find a grave has to put what is on the stone. I will put a note about the death record.

RE: Griffin Taylor
Latest news - No luck on the photo yet. I know I wouldn't have gotten rid of it and I certainly didn't give it away; it's in my house somewhere. (Things started getting really disorganized when my wife started her hospital stays 4 years ago, and I started spending more time in hospitals than at home! Hoping she can stay healthy so I can get things back to normal - that is, semi- organized instead of completely disorganized.

I did find a few photocopy images regarding the official history of the 80th OVI. Have you already seen that? I plan to share it with the owner of "ol' Griff's" (my father in law's words) site; maybe he'll post it. (I think I gave him some of what's already there, esp. the bit about being wounded in the wrist. But I don't remember for sure.)

Exactly! I'm still looking. I know it's around home somewhere!

RE: Griffin Taylor
A long time ago my father in law showed me a hamily photo of a man in uniform that he said he had been told (by whom I don't know) was Griffin Taylor. I'm looking for it!

RE: John Tuttle Photo
The white stone along the road is that of Charles Taylor and the marker in the lower left is BS Van Winkle. I am standing between two more and the four stones at the bottom of the picture are all Van Winkles...nine people altogether.

The next time I'm over there I'll see what I can do. I can set some flowers in the spot and capture the stone next to it.

RE: Margaret Ann
I may have a photo of him... I'll be looking over the weekend for information on both of them
