I've always been fascinated with grave sites, visited cemeteries, made rubbings, took photos, etc. and must say that find-a-grave is an ideal site.

I've worked on family history projects for over 35 years and will for as long as I can. I'm more than happy to share family history with anyone interested.

The primary names I research are STROOPE, KEA, Pitts, Howton, Trammel, Hopper, Hale, Thetford, CARPER, BARTON, Lyon, Phipps, Griffith, Ellison, Shumate and many allied lines.

When I document a grave site, I try to include some information on the parents, siblings, marriage, etc. hoping this will help someone identify their relative. In some cases, when recording my line, or lines, I've created memorials for as much of the cemetery as I've had access to.

I'm not likely to post obits. I prefer to glean information from any I receive.

I'll be glad to transfer your family member to you. Always remember the FAG # for the memorial page and, of course, your FAG #. PLEASE do not send me a big list of names with no numbers included... thanks

If I have grave site information in error, please contact me so that corrections can be made.

Recent projects include:

--Gig Harbor and Haven of Rest Cemeteries, Gig Harbor, Pierce County, Washington

--JCC Smith Cemetery in Texas

Use of Photo
Thank you so much for your work with Find A Grave. You as well as the many others posting their finds help the rest of us connect with our families. It is greatly appreciated.

You posted the photo of John E Johnson memorial #7679145 buried in Sunset Lane Memorial Park located in Port Orchard, Washington, USA. He is my husband's 1st cousin 1 x removed. Would you be willing to give me permission to use this photo for my family tree? My husband is first generation American and it has been hard to find information on his family. His father died when he was 7 and little is know about him. My husband's family both came to the USA from Sweden at different times. Met in Washington state and married there. Mother was 11 yrs old when she left Sweden so did not remember much. We know that there are some relatives in the US but that is about all. I have searched a lot to find the bits I have.

Thank you again for all you are doing to document those who have left us.

Bollinger at OTC
Odd how someone re-painted the lettering on three sides of this tombstone but one side was left dark. Those white letters really pop out, too. Or they did the day I snapped the photos. Just another mystery.

In doing this, I am sure all of us have come across some remarkable epitaphs, or notes left by other folks visiting, etc. But the one that sticks with me and continues to cause me to tear up is at OTC: "Be careful where you tread. A thousand hopes lie buried here."
Can't recall the young man's name. He was about 18. I did research and discovered that every single child this family had died young. He lived the longest and was their last.

RE: Recent transfers
My gosh... wish we could get the news story. It's possible the NW room at Tacoma Library would have it on film. Interesting that the parents are at OTC and the son is at Calvary. Good work, Kathy! So glad you are enjoying this.

RE: transfers
You are so welcome. More coming. All in Calvary at this time. I did the best I could with spellings of names - off those 100-plus-year-old death certificates. No doubt many are not spelled correctly, both by me and the original transcriber. Hopefully you can iron out some of the kinks.
My biggest joy is to find photos or news articles or anything to add to the memorials.

Enjoy, Kathy. I know you will take good care of them.

RE: Riverside Cemetery
Thanks, Kathy. I will continue to work on the memorials as time permits. I have had a lot of health problems that have set me back in the last year or so, but I hope things will be looking up soon so I have more time to continue your wonderful work.
