Find a Grave has implemented a new way to submit Edits!

Unfortunately, there are far too many members for Find a Grave to notify everyone via email, so it's up to us to get the word out. If every member posts this message (or similar) in their profile, hopefully we can help spread the word.

To suggest a correction (SAC) click on the edit tab of the memorial that needs to be corrected. Then click on the link which best describes where your edit should occur. Enter your correction, when you're done, click submit edit. Your request will be sent to the manager of the memorial and will appear in the managers' profile under the Edits tab.

Managers will no longer receive emails. They must go directly to their profile page and click on the Edits tab. Managers can approve, deny or ignore, suggested corrections. It's quick and easy!

The exception:
Requesting a transfer, adding family links, or other corrections are still handled the same way. Click on "suggest any other correction or addition," type your message and press "send this message." The manager of the memorial will receive an email.

Copied from Profile of Connie.

Thanks, Connie!

Grace Laxton Boughman
I am happy to add as much as I can. You did all of the work with the research. My part was small. If Grace is family to you, would you like me to transfer her memorial into your care? As far as the Navy went, I wasn't specifically trained to go to Viet Nam. They just sent me over there with my squadron and told me to keep the planes flying.

RE: Grace Laxton
Hey Ruth,
I searched the LDS site and found the census info with the surname Boughman. If you can get me the obituary, I will put it on her memorial. I used the date/time stamp to see what the location of her grave was in relation to the others. In the order of the photos, her marker is between John H. Boughman and Mary Laura Boughman.

Hello Ruth,
I do not remember if there was a family marker or not. I usually photograph family plots in addition to the individual markers. I do not have a photo of a family marker. The memorial number you listed does not exist in the Find A Grave database. I searched it by number and name and could not find the one you were referring to. In addition, the only John Boughman is John H. Boughman who was married to Mary Walsh. I could not find a memorial for John Quincy Boughman. I am sorry that I could not be of any help.

Obituary
Ruth,
I'd love to add the obit. Do you know which newspaper published it and the date of publication, if possible? I'll still add it, but I do like to note that information.
Diehard.

RE: Worleys
Of course. This new way of doing corrections had me thinking you were a different Ruth. I kept up better with the old way. I should have added what you are sending corrections on when I added the Memorials but I jump around from one cemetery to another! Thanks for your help Nan

Hi Ruth, thank you for the changes you have sent, they have been made. I like the explanation of edits, however, I think you need to add to the "Exceptions" any information that pertains to the memorial should be submitted in this way, not in the Flower section. I always make any change that is correct. Flowers are just that--Flowers. Again, thanks.

Thanks Ruth,
I finished searching through all of the Mitchell County Cemetery Transcriptions and failed to find Ruby or William Stamey interred in any other Mitchell County cemetery. I've exhausted all possible sources to search for them. Many thanks for all your efforts.

RE: Etta Delila Stamey & John Wesley Stamey Photos
Good Day Ruth,
Thank you for looking into Ruby Elkins Stamey and William McKinney Stamey's interment. I knew you would probably see those D/C's for them, which do tell us they were buried in that Phillips Cem in Spruce Pine. I did not have access to the census for that graveyard, so it was interesting to hear your review of the unmarked burials there. I do see the Buchanan Cemetery on Sandy Branch now, which shows the stones for W.M. Stamey and Mrs. W.M. Stamey. Buchanan was a notable name in those parts, which is revealed by the list of 7 Buchanan Cemeteries in that county. Looking at Lawson's transcription of Phillips in Spruce Pine, I do see graves #94 & 95 listed as unmarked. I am beginning to wonder if a family member objected to Ruby and William's interment there. Since the D/C's are almost always the final record for a person, this will be a hard mystery to unravel. Thank you for your continued assistance with this one.

RE: Etta Delila Stamey & John Wesley Stamey Photos
Ruth,
You are very welcome for the photos. I was already there on a mission to find Ruby Elkins Stamey and William McKinney Stamey, which I assumed would have a monument there, but they did not. I had expected to find them near the other Stamey's, but no luck. Do you know anything about their burial? Ruby passed away in 1970 and William died in 1969. With death dates in that time frame, I was expecting to find a modern era marker there. I already checked the other Phillips Cemetery in Mitchell County and they were not there either.
