Behind each gravestone is a story that needs
to be told.
My goal is create Virtual Cemeteries of Marines that served with the various companies of 2nd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
That each Virtual Cemetery will include the company name and every Marine that died in Vietnam, listed with the company they served. That each Marine will include a short bio where possible,or as information is being gathered.
If anyone knows,or has info related to any of my Marines, please forward it to me.You are welcome to add any photos of that Marine that you may have.
Also,I will accept memorial transfers of Marines that served with the various companies that you made have and would like to transfer to me.
A big thank-you to those of you who have kindly transferred memorials to me and taken photos.Very much appreciated.
Served in Vietnam during 1969 with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.

Since I have come across several soldiers that served in the Army and died in Vietnam without bios, I have decided to attempt and work on those Army memorials as I come across them. They deserve to be remembered.

Lcpl Anderson is my cousin, and I prefer to keep his memorial, but I will gladly add anything that you find.
On another side, I am a Vietnam Veteran that served in the US Navy from 1966 until 1987. My 1st ship was the USS Vancouver LPD-2(1966-1969), we carried many Marines back and forth. USS New Orleans and USS Thomaston were part of our Ready Group, I don't remember the LST. Did we ever give you a ride?

Could you please go to the memorial in Honolulu and put a note in the BIO about him being moved to Rosecrans with that memorial number listed, and the same bio entry at Honolulu. There were 14 who served in Vietnam from Bannock County, ID. Several years ago I located them and put the memorials into a virtual cemetery. Richard's mother was a teacher at Pocatello when I went to high school. His parents were well respected in Pocatello. I have been trying to locate a photo of him to put on the memorial. The only one is a copy of a newspaper article (probably his obit) and it is not very good. I'm still looking for his obit in the Pocatello paper archives. Thank you for all you are doing in behalf of our veterans, and those who have been killed. We can NEVER HONOR our military TOO MUCH...

When you have moved the memorial to Rosecrans, please request a headstone photo. Thank you.

Richard is buried at ROSECRANS not Honolulu. I am going to request a headstone photo to verify this is correct from the V.A. National Gravesite Locator

No problem, 3/4 of a mile down the road from my house, took 2 tries but I walk about 5 miles a day so I just combined it with mt walking.

Yup, typos do happen. But on the upside, I photographed three other headstones all around 2687 just to insure I didn't overlook Mr. Miller. I'll get to him when I'm next in section R. Best, Helen

|HM||Charles Miller photo request at LINC|
Would you mind updating the grave section location on your photo request for Charles Miller, please? I was at Long Island National Cemetery this morning but was unable to locate plot 2687-A in section H. When I checked the Department of Veterans Affairs Nationwide Gravesite Locator it lists the section as R, not H. Wasn't in section R today so I wouldn't have been able to supply a photo today, but it is helpful to other photo volunteers to show the correct section. Thanks, Helen

You're welcome Tony! I searched that entire cemetery can could not find Freds father (your other photo request). LCpl Spina is buried next to his mother Frances, which leads me to believe that they were either divorced, or he doesn't have a gravestone. Also, Fred is buried in Section E, Lot 52.

Your relative doesn't appear on the partial index of St. Stans. If you could contact the cemetery office at (989) 893-2697 and find out the location I would be glad to get your pic!!
