|Proud veteran & professional genealogist. Any corrections I send are thoroughly and professionally researched and I have documentation on hand. I don't do mythology. If you get nasty with me don't act surprised or appalled when/if I return the favor! |
Memorials on here shouldn't look like genealogy scratch pads full of census data, especially on folks who died after the 1800's. It's extremely ugly and disrespectful to both the deceased and their families. An obit or a short biography will suffice nicely.
I'm still quite fascinated by folks who claim to be genealogists yet make up middle names or create new first names out of thin air and are unable to provide any documentation to prove the existence of the name they've created. Genealogy without documentation is mythology!!
Please don't ask me to link to unknown burials unless it's a known cremation. This is find-a-grave and not guess-a-grave. If you don't know where someone is buried, either find out or wait for someone else to find their grave and add them. If I maintain a memorial for someone who's not in my family but in yours or you personally knew them, I have no problem transferring the memorial to you if you ask. I don't care who maintains what but PLEASE! do corrections in a timely manner or transfer them to the person doing family research who will post corrections in a timely manner.
If you want to use any grave photos I've taken, feel free to use them anywhere and any way you want. I'd appreciate credit for them but it's not mandatory. Photos of grave stones are very helpful to those who are far away from their family's burial location.
If you sponsor a memorial that I maintain, send a message on the corrections tab and I'll automatically transfer that memorial to you.
The social security death index does NOT tell where a person died. It tells where the last benefit was sent which is normally not where a person died unless they died at home.
