Bio and Links
Bio Photo If you share an ancestor with me, I'd love to hear from you and trade info, or pictures, or whatever I have. I would appreciate whatever you have. I am always eager to meet a new cousin.

You are entitled to use any photo I have posted. I took them so others could see the gravestones of their ancestors and families. You are entitled to use any photo (or document) of a person I have posted on my memorials. I have access to an extensive family treasure of photos--which I have scanned and cataloged. I am more than willing to share.

If you have photos or documents of a family member of mine, a copy would be greatly appreciated.

Since retiring after 36 years in publishing, I've transitioned from publishing McGraw-Hill mathematics textbooks to creating books about travel, family members, and the Civil War. Family names include: Block, Norden, Luderman, Potterf, Morris, Young, Rulf, and Kesling. My wife's family names include Swift, Wach, Volz, Allen, McMillan, Garreaux, Pettingill, Nankervis, and Yendow.

For the Civil War, I'm most interested in the 14th OVI, Company E. I'm trying to identify the place of burial for all the members of Company E of the 14th OVI. My great grandfather, Charles Harrison Block, served in that regiment from August 1861 (he was 16) until July of 1865.

If you see an ancestor to you that I have uploaded, please request a transfer. I am happy to do so, even if it falls outside of the Find A Grave guidelines.

I am always willing to try to help others find their ancestors as other Find A Grave members have helped me.

RE: Pauline Block
Great to hear from you. I have Sarah's obit but for some reason I do not have Reubens. I would love to see scans of old letters too. How do I find your tree on ancestry? Are you listed as Block family tree? My cousin Judy and I may plan a trip to the Defiance/Henry Co area to do more research on our Tittle family. If you have anything on Jacob Tittle m. Rachel Kenedy or Thomas Jefferson Tittle and Phoebe Shaw Dodd. I need newspaper obits, land records, or would really get excited for church records. I believe T.J. was United Brethren. Would you know the name of that church for Defiance? Do you still live in that area? Please email me at I think it's easier than using ancestry. Look forward to hearing from you. I retired from IL to Hot Springs Village, AR. Reuben Potterf's brass plate with his initials are still on the threshold of his general store in Raymond, IL.

Pauline Block
I came to OH and met Pauline once. We wrote a few times. I am related to James Knox Potterf, Joseph Potterf and Gasper. I am in the DAR for Gasper Potterf. I am trying now to follow my Tittles and also Rachel Van Duyne. I am going to send in a supplemental for Elizabeth Kiesling's dad too. My cousin is already in for him, Ditrich Kiesling (known as Teter). Any thing you'd have beyond Rachel or Thomas Jefferson Tittle would be great. I attended the Potterf reunion in Eaton, OH once. Perhaps you've attended. Are they still doing it? Don't want to put more on a public site.

RE: need info on Anna Sandoz English
Thanks for all your help!!! I think I have all this info, but will review it again. I've been trying to solve this for 3 years now. B.F. English survived 3 wives & had 9-10 children. I guess I'll never know for sure.
Thanks again! Lori

RE: need info on Anna Sandoz English
Great! Thanks! If I could ask a couple more questions please...Anna & B.F. English's son Chester was born in 1892. Defiance has his birth in their records & so does Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was born in Wisconsin according to his death cert. Do you know why his birth would have been in Wisconsin?
Also, did they have a daughter, Jessie, born in 1894? Anna died in 1898, correct? I cannot figure out who Jessie English's mother is for sure. Thanks so much!!!

need info on Anna Sandoz English
I am researching the English family in Defiance from the mid 1800's-1900. Do you know if Anna Sandoz, in the 1870 census (Defiance) in the home of Amos & Augustine, is Anna Sandoz English. She was born about 1866, married Benjamin Franklin English in Defiance in 1889, & died about 1898. I ask because Lavina was also a member of the household. Thank you for your time! Lori Gray (

Adah Block
You requested a photo of Ahah Z. Block's headstone. Check out Find A Grave memorial #132753038 for a Adah Z. Block buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Oakland, CA. I think its the grave you are looking for.
