Retired public relations executive, inspector, newspaper columnist, fine arts artist, short story writer, "Ghost writer" and author of more than 35 books, including CHEESMAN FAMILY HERITAGE, The CHEESMAN DOSSIER, CHEESMAN DOSSIER II: RELATED FAMILIES, and The ILLUSTRATED GARDEN OF STONES Cemetery Book series.|
It's difficult to read many old burialstones, depending on the style and technique of the stone engraver, or simply depending on age, wear and mother nature... an 8 might be taken for a 3, or a 5 might be mistaken for a 6, among other numeral combinations. Also bear in mind that some stone carvers have made mistakes because the written material for them to inscribe from was not always clear or legible.
If I am found to have misread a monument, let me know and I will promptly correct it as soon as I am able. Except for the cemeteries that I've worked on and have written about, my primary focus is on Cheeseman - Cheesman - Chessman and all variations of the surname, people related and associated to these families, and their their close friends.
I usually go on-line about once a month more or or less... Quite frankly, I don't trust or really care for computers because of so much misinformation, dirt, viruses and trechery that's commonly posted on them. Find-a-grave is one of the very few sites that I trust and go on.
I am certainly and genuinely always happy to hear from relatives and friends, and will try to respond to inquries as soon it is possible.
Your thoughts and messages are important to me, but I am slow at times, so please be patience.
Surnames that I am primarily focused on for a new book in progress:
Augastat / Augustat, Baker, Bernabe, Besser, Cheesman / Cheeseman / Cheseman, Chesman / Chessman, / Chisman, Clark, Cox, Cupps, Friar / Fryer, Hedger, Herrin / Herring / Heron, Hughes, LaHa, Laundry / Landrie, Orcutt, Plough, Sexton, Thornburg / Thornburgh, Valentine, Willson / Wilson.
Associated surnames; Brennecke, De Floris, Pellizzaro, Ramos, Renaud, Somogyi, Stachowski / Stackowski, among others.

Find A Grave #60360416
I am researching Civil War soldiers from VT and I found Michael on a roster for the 1st IA Cavalry. His nativity is given as VT. Your Find A Grave memorial for him supports that.
I want to add his name, vitals and service to the "Vermont in the Civil War" web site but I would like to confirm the information first. Do you have a source for his birth date?

Your Infant Cheesman d1/4/1931 had a twin brother who died on 1/5. I have made a memorial for him and will transfer it to you if you want it.

|erin moon-walker||Ruth A. Hammel|
I would love to contact descendents or friends of Ruth A. Hammel. Do you happen to know anyone who knew her? She was my grandmother's patient, and my grandmother talked family history with her quite a bit. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any info.
Thank you very much!
I am Dennis Dodd and I had contacted you before to transfer me my 3rd Grt Grandfather, Dr.
Stephen Dodd. Would you also transfer his wife, Phebe (Babbitt) Dodd to me, as there are some additions and changes on that page I would like to make. I was new to find a grave at that time or would have had you transfer her at that time also. Thanks, Dennis D. Dodd
|krs4500||Samuel McClain parentage|
I am looking for the parents of Samuel McClain (b. 1756, d. 1820), and see you have Charles McClain and Lydia Cheesman as his parents. I have found this line on ancestry.com, but the Samuel listed there as their son was listed as being born in 1808, too late for my Samuel. I see your name is Cheesman, is the source of this information through your own knowledge of your family history, or through some public documents? I am trying to sort out this puzzle. thanks.

|Frank||Daniel L. Wilson Parents?|
I am working on a brick wall of Daniel L. Wilson, b. 9 Sep 1872 either White or Cass Co., IN; d. 22 Feb 1936, Cass Co., IN.; married Lillie Rinehart 28 Feb 1894, Cass Co., IN. My only clue is the 1900 US Census where he states that his parents were born in OH. I found your work on the Wilson Family Cemetery in Cass Co., IN and noted in your bio that you are working on that line, along with many others. If you have any information that be of help I would be most grateful. Daniel is my wife's great grandfather.

I've just begun adding and editing Find A Grave information. Would you want to transfer maintenance of Evan R Balch to me? He is my great grandfather through one of his twin daughters, Uvena Ethelda Balch. Thank you for getting this information online. Jo Ann
|Judi Schoonover||RE: Cheesman Families Reunion site|
Hi David, I appreciate your thinking of me for the reunion but I don't do facebook or twitter. I am related to the Cheesman's. Louisa Cheesman daughter of Peter T Cheesman and Elizabeth Jackson is my 3rd great grandmother. Louisa was married to Charles Harper, my 3rd great grandfather. My husband is related to the Cheesman's also. His first cousin, Peter Franklin Cheesman, son of Squire Lennen married Mary Ellen Cheesman. Squire Lennen is my husband's 3rd great uncle. Thank you again for telling me about the reunion. Judi (Vaneman) Schoonover.
