Retired public relations executive, inspector, newspaper columnist, fine arts artist, short story writer, "Ghost writer" and author of more than 35 books, including CHEESMAN FAMILY HERITAGE, The CHEESMAN DOSSIER, CHEESMAN DOSSIER II: RELATED FAMILIES, and The ILLUSTRATED GARDEN OF STONES Cemetery Book series.|
It's difficult to read many old burialstones, depending on the style and technique of the stone engraver, or simply depending on age, wear and mother nature... an 8 might be taken for a 3, or a 5 might be mistaken for a 6, among other numeral combinations. Also bear in mind that some stone carvers have made mistakes because the written material for them to inscribe from was not always clear or legible.
If I am found to have misread a monument, let me know and I will promptly correct it as soon as I am able. Except for the cemeteries that I've worked on and have written about, my primary focus is on Cheeseman - Cheesman - Chessman and all variations of the surname, people related and associated to these families, and their their close friends.
I usually go on-line about once a month more or or less... Quite frankly, I don't trust or really care for computers because of so much misinformation, dirt, viruses and trechery that's commonly posted on them. Find-a-grave is one of the very few sites that I trust and go on.
I am certainly and genuinely always happy to hear from relatives and friends, and will try to respond to inquries as soon it is possible.
Your thoughts and messages are important to me, but I am slow at times, so please be patience.
Surnames that I am primarily focused on for a new book in progress:
Augastat / Augustat, Baker, Bernabe, Besser, Cheesman / Cheeseman / Cheseman, Chesman / Chessman, / Chisman, Clark, Cox, Cupps, Friar / Fryer, Hedger, Herrin / Herring / Heron, Hughes, LaHa, Laundry / Landrie, Plough, Sexton, Thornburg / Thornburgh, Valentine, Willson / Wilson.
Associated surnames; Brennecke, De Floris, Pellizzaro, Ramos, Renaud, Somogyi, Stachowski / Stackowski, among others.

|Betty Musser||Name Correction|
My grandmother was Delpha Mae Ogletree (Chessman), not Delpha Maryjane. I'm sure she'd laugh at this, as there was always controversy over her middle name.
Betty Ogletree Musser

|LindaC||RE: Emily Cheesman|
Following up on a previous question regarding Beulah Cheeseman Memorial #122917574. Ridgeville Cemetery, Lorain County, OH
I am assuming her last name is misspelled - looking for verification of that before I place an edit.
Tx, get back to me when you have a moment. No hurry.

|Rebecca ||RE: Relationship to John and Charity Gaston|
David, thanks for your reply. I look forward to a continuing conversation. Question: It looks like the last name was spelled "Cheeseman" so did the spelling change throughout the years? Becky Ball

|Rebecca ||Relationship to John and Charity Gaston|
To my very distant family descendants of John and Charity; I am in the Oregon chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and my Revolutionary Patriot is Major John Gaston, husband of Charity Cheesman. Our relationship is via their son, Samuel, who married Margaret Penny then their daughter Eliza married Samuel Morgan. Their son, Samuel Gaston Morgan was my great grandfather. He is buried in Forest Grove, Oregon. I welcome any messages from the Gaston/Cheesman family and hope to visit the Mingo Cemetery in 2015.

2 memorials for Emily. Maybe you could work w/the other contributor and delete one. One has a headstone photo.
Also do you know anything about Bulah CHEESEMAN? Is her last name possibly misspelled?

|BJ Martin||Henry Henry Girth, Indiana|
You have Henry Henry Girth listed as Unknown birth and 7 Mar 1897 as his death. IF this is who I think it is he was born 1852 and his name is Hiram Henry Girth the son of Henry Girth and Mary Adams, raised by Henry and 2nd wife Rebecca Carpenter Curry Lucas Sanford Girth with all Rebecca's children. He married Aurora Oda Simmons in Lafayette, Tippecanoe, Indiana. Please let me know if I am right or wrong.
|SueD||William Wesley Morris|
Are you the owner of the Cheesewright family information on Ancestry? If so I have a question. My husband is a descendant of Wm. Wesley Morris (1831-1887/8). The information on Ancestry says his parents are A N H Morris and P C Morris. Can you tell me where you got this information? I've been trying to figure out who his parents were for many years. Any help is greatly appreciated.
(I was using a friend's computer so didn't want to use her Ancestry to make contact)

|Pete Stingley||Stingley's of Oregon|
I am trying to find relations of ours who came to Oregon in the late 1900's, probably around 1880 onward. My grandfather was RT Stingley and he had 2 brothers. I am trying to find the name of their parents. Do you have any information? Thank you-
Ash Valey, OR
