Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love genealogy, and have many obituaries collected of Lauramie Township, Tippecanoe county, Indiana, residents. My home is always open to help visitors with their family search. I am the author of a book entiled, "Stockwell, Indiana, Smalltown USA", and have information on several of the graduates of the Stockwell High School. To keep busy after retirement, I started placing names in the "Find A Grave" web page. when I have a obit, it is always included.

Elias Dunbar

I am curious about why Elias Dunbar is identified as a Civil War veteran given that his date of death 12 February 1861, is more than two months before the Civil War began.

please contact me at if the date of death is a typo.

Jane McLaughlin Gipson
Hi Thelma,
I was just looking at the above memorial and wanted to have you make a correction. She was married second to a William Gipson, not Albert.

Also, I was wondering if you could transfer several of your memorials to me, a family member of relatives in Isley Cemetery?

Thank you so much.

RE: Warrick & Mary Stalnaker
Yes, I have a lot of research from my grandma. Warrick & Mary are my 2nd great grandparents. But I wasn't aware that they had a hotel. My grandma never told me about it. She passed away in 2002. I don't know if you would have known her since she grew up in Tippecanoe County. Her name was Mary Ellen Frey. Her parents were John & Vena (Stalnaker) Frey. I noticed in the 1910 & 1920 census that Warrick & Mary had boarders in their household. So do you know if they had a boarding house or was it a hotel?
Also, I was wondering if you had an obituary for Hazel Frey Loveless (Find A Grave Memorial# 71683189). She was my grandma's aunt and was killed by a train- 15 Jun 1930 at Stockwell, Indiana. I'd love any information you could give me on any of the Frey or Stalnaker Families. Thanks so much for your help.

Nancy Stump Mattix
Hi Thelma,
Nancy Stump Mattix is my maternal great grandmother. Her father was William James Stump and his burial site is: 2995634. He was a private during the Civil War and his grave is located in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. His wife, Nancy's mother, remarried a Joseph Hartley. I have not located where she died or her grave site.

Martin Campbell
Dear Thelma:
Martin Campbell was the son of Charles and Eliza (Bowers) Campbell, he was born in Indiana Jan 22 1830. and died October 7, 1919. On May 15, 1851,he married Emeline Cameron, daughter of John and Mary (Rinehart) Cameron. Mary Rinehart was the daughter of David Rinehart and Rosanna (Coyner) Rinehart. John Cameron was born Feb 19, 1811 abd died August 16, 1895; he was the son of Thomas Cameron.

This was from in part from: Tercentenary of New England families : 1620-1922 : a record of the achievements of her people in the making of commonwealths an.... page 176 (available on Ancestry) Although the book does not list his mother's name I believe she was Elizabeth Mitchel.

(The above source had incorrect birth and death dates for David Rinehart; Mary's father.)

If you should have any further questions, Please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards
Cindy Rinehart

Emeline Campbell
Dear Thelma:

Emeline Cameron Campbell was actually the first born daughter of:

John Cameron Find A Grave Memorial# 24296932
Mary Rinehart Cameron Find A Grave Memorial# 26633720

(They were also the parents of Minerva Cameron who married Daniel Clark)

They were married on 28 April 1835. Emeline was born 18 Feb 1836. Mary Rinehart Cameron died 6 Aug 1849.

Father; John Cameron married (2) to Rachel Hoffman Rinehart on 6 Aug 1852. This was nearly 6 months after Emeline married Martin Campbell. Rachel was really Emeline's Aunt!

Rachel Hoffman Rinehart was the widow of Jacob Rinehart, Find A Grave Memorial# 39616770. Jacob Rinehart died 11 April 1852.

I have included the following sources:

Tercentenary of New England families : 1620-1922 : a record of the achievements of her people in the making of commonwealths an page 176

The above source notes the names of the six children of John Cameron and Mary Rinehart Cameron:

History of Buchanan County, Iowa : with illustrations and biographical sketches. page 321.

Best Regards

Cindy Rinehart
