I enjoy walking through cemeteries and looking at memorial stones. I find it relaxing and peaceful and have met some of the nicest people through Find A Grave!

It makes me happy to help someone add a page to their history and keep the person's memory alive. I also feel that it may give a family a type of closure to know where a loved one is located.

My pictures are not copyrighted. You may certainly use my monument photos for your PERSONAL PRIVATE family trees. I am finding my pictures on Ancestry without source, and not linked, which is illegal. IF YOU CANNOT PROPERLY SOURCE OTHER'S MATERIAL, DO NOT USE IT!!

Please use the new Edit System when possible for making any name or date changes to a memorial. You add the changes yourself and I will approve them or contact you for further clarification.

I am happy to add or correct information for you on memorials. I am somewhat liberal with transfers of anyone not related to me, but please state your specific relationship.

Please also feel free to contact me via email or post a message regarding any additional related family members. Perhaps we are cousins!

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Hello,
I am researching Andrew J. Gunnison and found your memorial to an Effie Gunnnison Monaco. The 1850 US Census has Andrew J. and Effie Gunnison, age 26 living in Lowell, MA.
Andrew J, has a brother according to his obituary:
"Andrew J. Gunnison (1823-1902) arrived in San Francisco November 15, 1851, with his brother,
A. R. Gunnison, who is still a resident here."
SFCall, 1902

My question: Is Effie the niece of Andrew J Gunnison?

Andrew's full obit is here: 136624047

And thanks for creating a beautiful memorial to Effie Monaco!!! Well done
Cheers,Marcualyn

You are welcome.
Duplicates are common, so if I come across in the course of doing other work, I let folks know.

Chloe, Thanks you for your SAC for Walter. Been wondering what happened to him for a very long time. Walter's mother was my Great Grandfather's second wife. Thanks also for his obituary... Michael

Chloe:

Thanks much for transferring Charles Mayhew's memorial to me. I met his daughter Edith when I was on a visit to my aunt and uncle in southern CA as a very young kid. A very interesting family.

Although I've found a lot of information about him there are some big gaps I hope to fill in when and if other info comes to light. Management allows me to make the changes. Thanks again and particularly for establishing the memorial.

Best, Barry

Flora Eldora Norris is my Great Grandmother. If you aren't related would it be possible to have her transferred to me? Thank you.

Thank you for the edit on her middle name and for adding the death notice to her profile. May I ask for permission to use the death notice on my Ancestry family tree? Are you related to Cara? Now to find out where her mother is buried... Thank you much, Kathy
