I have entered many from Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt, Iowa. |
If anyone has additional information, or I have made an error, please use the EDIT feature, or I can transfer them, provided the date of birth and death are completed. If you use the new EDIT feature where you can, type in the suggested changes. I will generally check it weekly and accept the changes. That is the preferred method rather than sending me the information for me to update the files, unless you have additional information, then I will be glad to update the memorial.
I encourage you to claim the memorials if they are family and add more details if you can. Just ask and I will transfer them.
I have absolutely NO relationship to anyone in ELMWOOD.
My goal would be to transfer each of them to someone knowledgeable and willing to add more information the people.
Please feel free to copy photos I've added on Find A Grave.com for your own family history records. It is not necessary to contact me directly for permission.I appreciate the photos on Find A Grave and will attempt to help where I can.

Happy to help get the info straightened out. I had earlier made an incorrect assumption about them, too, so I have glad to find the correct info. I'll send more edits as soon as I can get to it.
|Justina Cook||RE: Lemuel Blackburn|
I knew that Lemuel Blackburn had died before 1917 (I don't remember what my source was for that, but his wife was listed as a widow in the 1905 Iowa state census as well), so I did some digging since the date you had was after that. I found his wife's death index entry (pasted below), and the date you had listed for him is actually her death date. Also, I found his index card for the Civil War Pension, and the widow's pension was filed on August 10th, 1904. I didn't have any luck finding an exact death date for him, so that's where I got the information on when he died. I hope that helps! Thanks, and take care! "-)

Jon. Thanks so much for the Mockridge transfers! I will be working over the next weeks and months to give them some substance and connection. Has been 30 yrs since I was in De Witt. My mom lived and died in Dubuque.
