Inspired by the work done by her great grandfather, Silas Wm. Blizzard (fag #40386458), while writing a history of his family, my mother, Eleanor Clara Blizzard Black (fag#36676318) began her own research. She continued until the early 1980's when arthritis and osteoporosis made the work too difficult for her. I had always found the subject interesting but did nothing with it until after inheriting mother's numerous notes. I began my own search to learn more about my ancestors and those of my wife about ten years ago but did so on a limited basis until more recently. Find A Grave has proved to be a wonderful tool! I've "met" so many people here who have been so helpful to me. As I've visited cemeteries and researched names, I've found many of our relatives. I've also created memorials for many other people I've found along the way in the hope that what I've done may be helpful to others who are searching for their ancestors. If I've entered information incorrectly, I apologize; please let me know and I'll make corrections. If you find ancestors of yours among the memorials I've created and would like for me to transfer them to you, let me know. If neither my wife nor I is related, I'll be happy to make the transfer.|

Are you by chance related to James Horn?
I work for the Fulton County Historical Society, and in Rochester Indiana, and we had someone contact us with some items that had belonged to the Horn family and would like to see them returned to a family member.
That is a beautiful picture of your mother but you have the wrong number for her Find A Grave No. should be 36676318. I just thought that you would like to know. I'm working on Black, Borders,& Chases. So I took a look at your bio. . My mother was of the Borders & Chase, Rogers family. Fred Black is in the Borders-Chase linage. Betty Wever

I will create the listing today.

Thanks for your email. Perhaps it was a typo on the ancestry family tree. Please feel free to leave it as is in Indiana. Hope you are enjoying your day!
re: Sarah Krieg Mohler
Just over a week ago, you sent an edit request for the memorial to Sarah Krieg Mohler in Gilead Cemetery, Gilead, Miami Co., IN. Your edit was to list the place of death as Miami, Miami-Dade, FL. I approved your request but am now asking if you are sure of this information. I just seems strange to me that she would have died in Florida in 1889 when the family lived in Indiana. It seems more "logical" to me that she would have died in Miami County, IN. Let me know. Thanks!

I have found the following:
per Clark Co., Indiana Death Record Book H-33, page 96:
Louis F. Redding
born: 16 October 1835, Oldham Co., Kentucky
died: 25 December 1923, Charlestown Twp., Clark Co., Indiana
father: Wesley Redding
mother: Nancy Singer
buried: 27 December 1923, New Chapel Cemetery
informant:Mr. Floyd Redding
Do you believe this is the same person as your Lewis F. Redding? Or do I need to make a new entry? Please advise.

That would make sense. I've recently photographed every headstone in Shaffer that was even slightly legible. And am in the process of slowly adding them to your memorials. It was disappointing to see so many have broken off and are laying facedown. And even more are already illegible.
I'd like to learn more about the on line cemetery listing you mentioned. I wonder if other states have the same thing. I'm not originally from here and would love to have another way to search for ancestors. Please feel free to email me at email@example.com.

Thanks for making the additions and corrections, Tom. I used to have the Butler book - look for my name in it - but it disappeared when we moved. Cathy

|Angels A-Far||RE: Charles P Davenport|
After contacting me about the discrepancy on Charles Phillip Davenport's death date, I did some researching on him. His death year is a typographical error on the library's website resulting in the publishing date of the obit article that I sent your way.
Another obit article is listed for Mr. Davenport this one with the publishing date of June 23, 1913 - New Castle Daily Courier, New Castle, IN
The funeral of Charles P. Davenport, age 75, who died at his home on S. 17th St., Saturday morning, was held at the home at 10 o'clock with Rev. T. Worsley Maguire in charge. Interment took place at South Mound.
If you notice the article states Mr. Davenport died on Saturday morning and this article is dated June 23, I Googled up a calendar for 1913 and it shows June 21st would have been the Saturday they are referring to.
This may be information you are already aware of on Mr. Davenport but sending it to you anyway. A marriage record for Charles P. Davenport and Sarah E. Butler on Dec. 23, 1869 in Henry Co., IN. was found.
Census of 1880, Indiana, Henry Co., Knightstown:
Charles Davenport - 41y, carriage maker, born PA, father born NJ, mother born PA
Sarah E. - 39y, born IN, father born GA, mother born KY
Frank - 8y
Levi B. - 5y
Charles - 3y
Maud E. - 1y
Census of 1900, Indiana, Henry Co., Henry Twp., New Castle:
Charlie/Charles Davenport- 71y, born July 1828 in PA, married 31y, born PA, both parents born PA, carriage maker, owns house free of mortgage
Sarah E. - 60y, born Aug. 1939, had 6 children 3 living, father born GA, mother born KY
Frank - 28y, single, born Feb. 1872 in IN, painter
Charley - 24y, single, born July 1875 in IN, typesetter
Census of 1910, Indiana, Henry Co., 7-WD New Castle - S. 17th St.
Charles Davenport - 69y, married once - 40y, born NJ, repairer, owns mortgaged house
Sarah - 60y, married once, had 6 children 1 living, born IN, father born GA, mother born KY
Always remember that census records are not always correct but usually you can get enough from them to link up with information you might know about that person.
P.S. Always like getting info to get the memorial as correct as possible!
|April Williams||Solomon Peachey|
Hello, my name is April Williams and I wan't sure if you knew that Solomon Peachey and his wife were the parents of Solomon D Peachey and his wife Catherine 'Katie' Spicher; whose graves are located I believe directly in front of Solomon and his wife Katherine. Solomon D Peachey was also the father of Jeptha U Peachey and his wife was Mary Stoltzfus Peachey. Mary and Jeptha are my great grandparents. Thank you for your photos
