In the 1980's I started researching my Linn ancestors (without benefit of computer) but got busy with my sons' activities and put it on hold. In 1999 a cousin got me involved with my Steinberg ancestors and I have been going full speed ahead ever since. |
Upon graduating from the University of Illinois my father obtained employment in the State of Washington, far from any relatives. My ancestors (after entering the USA)settled in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Jersey - I want to experience first hand where and how they lived so I travel the country obtaining data, meeting people, seeing the sights and tramping cemeteries. I missed the "cousin experience" growing up and think that is why I enjoy genealogy so much -- meeting new cousins (who cares if they are 1st or 10th cousins)and sharing our family histories.
I am researching Linn, Gibson, Weir, Scott, Polk, Steinberg, Koerner, Mitten, Bennett, Switzer (Swisher), Slonaker, Shaw, Goff, Townsend, McCarty and Whitehead, Miller, Schroen, Glabe, Schafer/Schaefer/Shafer. I am also reseaching Dishon, Deshon, DeShon, Deschamps and Herrold for my two sons.

|Karen Ziege Bartelt||Kuntz|
Never mind - I found their baptismal date. I don't know. So far, no death dates, though the parish records for the mid 1860's are very poor. I'll keep looking.

Can you tell me the year of their baptism again? I am updating these Excel files, and everything is a real mess right now.
|Valerie Wahls||Doane House|
Remodeling a home and found a message from the contractors, Geo. Doane and E.H. Doane that appear to be ancestors of yours. There are 2 more contractors that worked with them as well. So glad there were pictures on the site. So neat to actually see who built this house in 1905! How can I send a private message so you can see the writing they left?

You are welcome and thank you for acknowledging the photo.--Storres

Look at the photo requests for Springdale, you can see those with a red "One Problem Reported" in the status column. On the left, underneath the name for the memorial is the requestor. You have four that no marker was found. You can withdraw your request.
|Stephen Cantrell||Springdale photo requests|
Would you be so kind as to consider removing your photo requests in Springdale where a volunteer has looked and found nothing and then filed a grief report? Probably half of the photo requests for Springdale have yielded no photo. Sure would be nice to clean up the list so we can review the new requests coming in!
I see where you've requested photos for "North Hill Division". Good luck, I spend a little bit of time last year in that Division. I believe it's the oldest division in Springdale and it looks it! The stones are in complete disarray, many topled over, with inscriptions lying face down. Others are so eroded they're illegible.
Someday I'll go back and work that division, in the meantime, there are still 31,000 more burials to document.

Thought I'd let you know that you have Harlie P. Townsend's great grandparents as George and Sarah. They were actually George and Clarissa Amanda [Bowling] Townsend.
