Bio and Links
Bio Photo My love of history began in grade school and has intensified over the years. I am an active member and volunteer at the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. Several of my articles have been published in their "Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage" magazine.
I have also written several books telling the stories of some of my ancestors. Two of my books, "Annie's Day of Light" and "A Home for Sarah" are available from Masthof Press in Morgantown, Pa.

http://www.masthof.com/bookstore/index.php

Six other books were published by Christian Light Publications. The most recent one is a book of stories for children titled "Esther Starts From Home" published in October 2015. They are available from https://www.clp.org/.

The main surnames I am researching are Burkholder, Stauffer, Good, and Powell (or Powl), plus many others on a lesser scale. My research is centered mainly in the Pennsylvania counties of Lancaster, Lebanon, and Berks. But I also have a reputation for not being able to travel anywhere without making at least one stop at a cemetery.

Romaine,
I am researching my direct ancestors, Hans Zimmerman and Glause Zimmerman. I was very curious as to your sources for verifying that two Hans Zimmerman's immigrated to the US around the same time. Where would I find that documentation?

I have a cousin, Raymond Zimmerman, who is a board member for the Library at Fairmount Rest home in Farmersville, PA. Did you find documents there on Hans and Glause Zimmerman? I would very much appreciate knowing of documents proving what you wrote. Thank you very much!

Could you please add John Robert Schaeffer (75323045) to Elizabeth Henne Wilhelm as her son.

He was her son with her first husband Corp. John H. Schaeffer.

There was also another child they had together, Ezra Calvin Schaeffer. He is supposedly buried at Laurel Cemetery but I can't find a memorial for him only his death certificate.

Thank You,
Patress Schaeffer

Yes, thank you very much. I can now explain that to a cousin's husband for whom I am tracing his tree.

Doner VS Dohner
Hi,
I am wondering if you can tell me how John Doner's name got changed to Dohner. Find A Grave Memorial# 73476168. I have viewed transcribed Mennonite records in Ancestry.com that spells the family name Doner. (All dates of birth, death, spouse, parents, etc., match other records I have found.

Also, how did Mary's name happen to get changed to the spelling Donnerin?

Thank you,
Jack
