I love genealogy and old cemeteries! I am currently working on restoring an old, "abandoned" cemetery near Pleasant Hill in Pike county, Illinois with my father, Lonnie Robinson, and my good friend, Chris Harris. It is a shame to see the final resting places of the pioneers to this area covered in brush, briars and completely neglected. I need volunteers to help keep these cemeteries maintained and mowed.....|
Many of the oldest gravestones have toppled or broken and I would like to get them standing proudly again. I'm learning the PROPER way through the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency cemetery preservation workshops. It's a lot of work, but it's definitely worth it.
I welcome any corrections, links, etc. to my memorials and I'm always willing to transfer memorials that aren't my kinfolk to an actual relative. I'm sure I've made many mistakes and I won't be offended if you point them out......:-)
If you appreciate seeing your ancestor's burial location, show your support by donating to that cemetery's maintenance fund. There are a few good folks who volunteer to keep the many old cemeteries in good shape by mowing, trimming trees, clearing brush, etc. and a donation toward their costs is a great way to show your support and appreciation! Without them, all the old cemeteries would disappear......(if you don't know where to send donations, please message me and I will find out for you)

|MarshaHale||Phebe Adams Piper|
Hi again Kathy,
Could I add the headstone photo for Phebe Piper to that request - Her memorial # is 79329114.
I would like permission to use your photo of John Piper's head stone memorial #793283306 for my family ancestry.com site - with full credit. I noticed that another ancestor of mine at Old Barry Cemetery had her headstone resurrected (Rhoby Ferris) Thank you to those who helped with that. Where would one donate to the Old Barry Cemetery restoration work?
|Lance Hall||Rebecca Applegate Spears|
I've been going through old paper research and verifying as much as I can before uploading to Ancestry.
Do you know of any paper (non-Ancestry) record that verifies Rebecca Spears is the daughter of James M Applegate and Sarah Stark or where that original identification comes from?
|Marla Hathhorn||RE: Rachel Scouten|
You are welcome! Sorry the stone had fallen over and I couldn't photograph Rachel's data.
|Shirley Honaker||Katie Taylor|
Would you please connect Katie to her father?

|Eagles Nest||Donna Mae Hoos Adams|
I have received notice that I should delete my entry of Donna Adams memorial, because I did not have her in a cemetery at the time and another person added her in after me. Should I delete her?
If not would you mind adding the grave stone picture you have on her memorial # 120745294 to my memorial # 107366882.
Thanks, for your help,
|LaDon Brennan||Thank you|
Bless you for what you are doing with the abandoned cemetery. We need you in Missouri. It is so rewarding to find a fallen marker that has been covered over for decades, and bring it back -- they are often the best preserved marker/s in the cemetery.

Will there be another workshop on how to fix old broken tombstones? We are working on a cemetery where my husband's relatives are 30 miles south of Springfield, IL. There are stones, which need to be repaired. Thank you for any suggestions you can give to us. Thank you for all you do for the Pike County cemeteries.
Thank you so very much for your efforts towards maintaining the cemetery you speak of in your bio. As a descendant of a large portion of family whom are buried in a cemetery that was highly neglected to the point of memorial stones being sent to the dump and being trampled by cows, I appreciate your efforts. The cemetery I speak of is in North Carolina and sadly we can't turn back the clock and place someone there that cared, like you do. Your time spent there doing that is a blessing to many future generations. I applaud you and your family for going that extra mile <3

Would you mind taking a second close look at the date of death on Rachael's headstone? After much mulling on my part and checking censi, every single one of which indicates she was born in 1818, I had not been able to reconcile her age on the headstone as 77 yrs... UNTIL I just this minute realized that her date of death on the headstone is actually 1895 (not 1885), which, at age 77, would indeed make her date of birth 1818. Could you fix that pls. I can send you the censi also, if you would like. Also, can you mention the date of birth as a "calculated" date (unless, of course, you have some supporting document. Thank you very much for your fine work and all of your help, which is truly appreciated.
