Genealogy has been my back burner hobby since 1978. With work and raising a family time for researching has been rare.|
I love the find a grave site. Got a request answered within a week.
Enjoy the e-mails I get from adding a pic for others.
If you find any errors or need to add anything to entries I have made please let me know.
Along the way I have added gravestone info on persons not on my family tree. This because the stone was unique or in danger of being lost forever.
The people who maintain this site are great and are making available much information for us and hopefully future generations.

|Paula Miller||Edgar A. Smith|
Hi, this message is in reference to Find A Grave Memorial # 14538941. The correct cemetery is listed here for Edgar A. Smith, however the picture shown for the grave is for a William and Mellie Meeks. That left me a bit confused. Could be a simple mistake, I do thank you for the memorial though, I am trying to find Edgar's siblings. These folks are my relatives and are direct descendants of Peter Smith from Germany. Edgar's brother's name is listed on SAR's membership # 71070. Thanks for your help in advance.

I certainly understand how difficult it is to find memorials when names are misspelled, etc! Since these original ones came from handwritten records, inaccuracies are to be expected but sometimes very hard to spot. I could tell you take care with your memorials so thought you wouldn't object to working with me to correct the errors. Thanks so much for your assistance and quick response! I do appreciate it! :)

|Anna Jaech||Julia Ross Levings|
My goodness, I see you added this memorial this morning! Please see my note below. I wrote to a man in California about Julia. Did he contact you? This is such a coincidence!
|Anna Jaech||Julia Ross Levings|
Thank you for adding my gg aunt! The Ross family is my most mysterious. Julia's father owned a huge fleet of merchant sailing ships, initially in Portland ME which he ran in a triangle - Portland, West Indies, England. He moved to Brooklyn, then added Chicago. Julia's half brothers were involved - one owned an insurance company for maritime operations. That she appears in Edgar county is a big surprise. For a time I shall work on the theory that Julia Link was her aunt (Julia Ross Link). Julia Levings is the only daughter. You did me such a favor!! Its a good opportunity to learn a bit more. I wrote her father's story on his memorial which I've asked you to link. He was a fascinating man; but this was a dysfunctional family.

|Chuck Lewis||Frank Mayer's Marker|
Thanks so much for finding this grave. I would never have gotten this picture without your help! Did you happen to notice whether there were any other Mayer's nearby. I'm looking for the burial place of his wife Jeane and can't seem to locate death information for her. Again, your help is really appreciated! Regards,
