Bertha Mable slone
Hello, I am trying to help a nice lady I met with finding out something more about her grandmother,
Bertha Mable Slone . She was always told that she was adopted and that she was Indian. Any light you can shed on this family would be great and I will pass it on to this lady and put you in touch if you would both like.

Thank you for your time.

Abigail Tiffany
I would like to know your source for placing Abigail Tiffany #51583988 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, Hancock, Ohio? She is not listed in MG database or any place where I have checked for information on Maple Grove. A reply would be appreciated.

James Theodore Wood
I would like to know where you got the information that Theodore Wood was buried in Harbor Lawn - Mt Olive Cemetery in Costa Mesa, California.
He was my Uncle, I attended his funeral and grave side memorial at Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster California. I created a
memorial # 19664819 before realizing there was already one. I checked out Theodore James Wood in Find A Grave before setting it up and found nothing. Probably because you had listed his middle name first.

Philip & Fannie Maxwell
Last fall I took pictures of Philip and Fannie Maxwell's Headstone. But the headstone are not located at the Delhi Old Cemetery in Delhi, New York, but are located on a family plot located on Camp Nubar in Andes, New York. Can you please change their burial location. Thank You.

RE: Isaac W. Darrow
Dear Diane:
I have been looking into the Isaac W. Darrow who died at New Bern, North Carolina, on 3 October 1817 (not 17 October, as the post at Find-a-Grave states; 17 October was the date his death notice appeared in the NYC newspaper). From everything I can see, he is not the man who married Amy Tiffany. First, the death notice makes clear that he had just arrived in New Bern from NYC, where he had been listed as Isaac W. DARRAH, sailmaker, in directories from 1806-07, then again in 1811, and again in 1816-17. The newspaper in North Carolina which reported on the probate of his estate called him "Isaac W. Darrah," and the record itself strongly suggests that he had no wife or children. I am confident that he was Isaac Waterbury Darrah, born c.1782, son of John DARRAH, sea captain of NYC, and his wife Susannah WATERBURY (daughter of Isaac); John and Susannah Darrah also had a son Duncan Darrah (born 1786), who in 1805 was reported as having run away from his apprenticeship as a sailmaker. This Darrah family was Scottish, and always used the "Darrah" spelling when they were the ones doing the spelling, although in some records their surname appears as "Darrow" or even "Derrick." Meanwhile, the Isaac Darrow who came out of Dutchess County and then went to Delaware County never used the "Darrah" spelling, and it is extremely unlikely that, living where he did, he could have been a sailmaker. In my opinion, he is vastly more likely to be the "Isaac Darrow," age 32, born in Dutchess County, NY, who enlisted in the US Army at Philadelphia on 20 Sept. 1814; his enlistment was for five years, and he appears on Army Muster Rolls continuously from Sept. 1814 through the end of 1815, a period when Isaac W. Darrah, sailmaker, is known to have been in NYC. I believe that someone saw the death notice of Isaac W. Darrah (recorded as "Darrow") in the abstracts of NYC newspapers by Barber, and simply assumed that he was the man from Delaware County; the records, however, say otherwise.

Isaac W. Darrow
I am curious as to your source for making this man a son of Isaac and Hannah (Mead) Darrow; Isaac W. Darrow was in NYC directories as a sailmaker from about 1806, and he seems fairly young to have married by 1800. Are you sure that you have placed him in the right family? John Darrah/Darrow, a sea captain, married c.1780 Susan Waterbury (born 1762), daughter of ISAAC WATERBURY, and lived in NYC from about 1792 until his death c.1803. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but it does seem (unless you have some other evidence) that Isaac W. Darrow was more likely the son of John and Susan Darrah/Darrow.

Hyrum Smith Walker
I came across your note at Hyrum's memorial. I'm descended from his sister Mary and am always interested in locating a photo of my ancestors' siblings. Would you happen to have a photo of Hyrum you wouldn't mind sharing with me, please?
