Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a dedicated & fanatic family historian & have been on THE QUEST since 1955. I can concentrate on my ancestors but get easily side-tracked by in-laws & the cousins of cousins of cousins, if you know what I mean, & if you love family history as much as I do, then you do know!

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
By Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Syd,
I would like to say thank you for all the work you have done on my grandmother's memorial, Margaret Smith Burton. You do such a good job of writing things up. So, today I am going to ask if you will transfer her to me. I ask that you also transfer my grandfather, Find A Grave Memorial# 443957, Paul Elmore Burton.
I am not sure if I have asked this before, so pardon me if I already have, are you related to the Burton line?

Thanks so much
Jeanne

That is so true. Women who have been married several times have tripped me up several times. I do the same thing by checking before and after plus I also go directly to the cemetery if there is one and check that too. Keep up the good work.

yes I know I sent the other guy the same msg to see he was the 2nd hopefully the 2nd memorial will be deleted. just wanted to bring it to your attention. I have created duplicates by mistake and not caught them and have deleted them when brought to my attention. I am the type of person that is thankful someone catches these duplicates
even if I am the first or not. Thank you for your reply.
